SATURDAY 13TH AUGUST WINDSOR RACECOURSE y Bu ets k Tic

WELCOME Following yesterday’s Family Fun Day, we return to our familiar Monday night slot with Soul and Motown Race Night, featuring BBC 6 Music’s Craig Charles as DJ playing your favourite songs from the 60s and 70s. The music will be centred on the Jubilee Lawn after the final race and, with a warm summer’s evening guaranteed, it promises to be one of the highlights of the summer. On the track, the top race is the Racing League On Sky Sports Racing Handicap, marking the return of the colourful team competition for its second year - this time arranged on a regional basis. London and the South got off to a great start in the first leg at Doncaster last week, and we hope that you will be able to come and support your team at Windsor when we host the fourth stage on Thursday 1 September. So far this season, William Buick has led the way in the Windsor jockeys’ championship for 2022, but Andrea Atzeni made things much closer with a double here last Monday. One of the greatest pleasures of our Monday night racing programme this year has been the presence of so many of the country’s top jockeys, several of them frequently rewarding their followers with a welcome winner or two. Next Monday we stage our final Monday evening fixture of the year, so it’s bound to be a popular one. The theme is Cocktails & Jazz, with live music on the lawn from Love Shack. As always during the post-racing concerts, all the bars and street-food stalls will remain open as the sun goes down, guaranteeing a memorable end to the Monday night season at Windsor. Full booking facilities are available on our website, windsor-racecourse.co.uk, with details of special meal deals - like the Chip Shop and Pizza Stop Bundles and the Barbeque Experience near the parade ring. For those of you who like to dine in style, there are also two top-of-the range options: Gastro@RoyalWindsor and the panoramic 1866 Restaurant. Although the summer is already well advanced, we hope you will be able to join us again at Royal Windsor before we move into September. In the meantime, I wish you an enjoyable and successful evening tonight here on the scenic banks of the River Thames. Best Wishes Liam Johnson Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
