WELCOME
Dear All,
Following our first evening meeting of 2023 a week ago, we are now into a run of fixtures that will once again prove that Royal Windsor is indeed the“Home of Monday Night Racing”! There’s no better way to while away a few hours as the sun goes down, eating and drinking in style on the paddock lawn or in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant.
Tonight we are delighted to welcome back Fitzdares, generous sponsors of our annual Sprint Series, a strongly contested collection of races over five and six furlongs that will reach its conclusion in August. Over the next three months we are sure to experience numerous close finishes, with the leading contenders each week qualifying for a place in the final.
In addition to the Fitzdares Sprint Series Fillies’Handicap, we have a valuable contest for the Royal Windsor Supports Developmental Races Novice Stakes, which has attracted an interesting line-up of potentially smart three-year-olds. With a number of top stables among the entries, it should produce a talented winner with the rest of the season in mind.
Next week we have another Monday evening fixture, followed by our second Family Fun Day of the year on the Bank Holiday afternoon of 29 May. We look forward to welcoming you and your family, including the next generation of regular racegoers, with many exciting things to do for the youngsters alongside a programme of typically competitive racing.
Please visit our website windsor-racecourse.co.uk to see details of all our dates this summer, including themed race meetings with live music after racing, and the traditional three-day festival which runs from 1-3 July. Savings can be made for early bookings, with specific packages also on offer online if you are looking to enhance your day out.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your evening at Royal Windsor and that good fortune is on your side when it comes to finding the winners of the races. Moreover, we look forward to seeing you again at one of our future dates during the summer of 2023.
Best wishes
Liam Johnson Executive DirectorColour Graphic

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
