Dear All,
As the Royal Windsor 2023 programme gathers momentum, we reach the first day of our annual three-day Summer Festival, which we designate as Gentlemen’s Day. Our Style Awards judges will be looking out for those who have scrutinised their wardrobe to wear their finest outfits this afternoon, and it’s certain that there will be strong competition for the exclusive prizes!
On a similar theme, please note that we have an additional fixture this year on Saturday 29 July, and that this will be the new slot for Ladies Evening. Tickets are available on our website, windsor-racecourse.co.uk, where you can also view our entire fixture list for the rest of the year
As with all our racedays, savings may be made by booking early for upcoming dates including Rum n Reggae on 17 July, Vegas Racenight on 24 July and, particularly for those of you who enjoy the music of Elton John, Rocketman at the Races on 7 August These Monday evening dates will all feature live music on the stage after racing.
On the track, there’s plenty of quality racing this afternoon, with three valuable handicaps providing a challenge for punters during the second half of the card and the Darley Maiden Stakes at 3.20, worth £21,600 to the winner, likely to reveal some talented youngsters for the future, with a number of top stables represented.
Tomorrow afternoon we stage our third Family Fun Day of the year, with children’s favourite Blippi, making a first appearance on a UK racecourse, featuring in three live shows It’s a perfect chance for younger members of the family to experience all the colour and excitement of a day at the races.
The three days of action then conclude with a musical theme of Jazz & Funk on Monday evening. We hope you enjoy the sartorial buzz of Gentlemen’s Day and that we will see you again during the next two days of the festival.
Best wishes,
Liam Johnson Executive DirectorColour Graphic

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
BF - Beaten Favourite
C - Course winner
D - Distance winner
CD - Course & Distance winner
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Eric Burgess was a wonderful Husband, Dad , Grandad and Brother who was sadly taken from us too soon. A very sad time for us all , what followed shortly after was so unexpected to his Baby Sister Annie.
Eric was a very kind ,thoughtful , fun , cheeky man who would do anything for anyone and never looked for anything in return
Annie , you were an amazing Mother , Sister and Nan, you brightened everyone’s day with your humour and your positive outlook on life.

CHIEDOZIE shaped much better than the bare result when mid-field in a C&D novice on debut last month, a big move to get into contention taking its toll late on, and this close relation of the stable’s top-class sprinter Battaash can find the required improvement. Shagraan is another open to significant progress having shaped similarly in a decent Haydock maiden so is feared most ahead of Macanudo, who should be suited by the shorter trip given how he shaped first time up
