WELCOME
Dear All,
On this second day of the Royal Windsor Racecourse Summer Festival, we bring you our third Family Fun Day of the year, with children’s favourite Blippi making a first appearance on a UK racecourse There will be three live shows and a chance to meet some lucky young racegoers who have applied in advance. Details of timings will be announced during the afternoon.
Among the inflatables and ice creams, we hope that many of your younger family members will also enjoy the experience of watching the horses race around our unusual figure-of-eight circuit For maximum appreciation of the participants, we recommend that you head to the parade ring to watch them prepare for their races, and then greet them afterwards as they return to the unsaddling area outside the weighing room.
Although two of our days during the festival are afternoon fixtures, we have become known as The Home of Monday Night Racing, which is when the majority of our fixtures are staged. In the coming weeks we have live music after racing with the following themes: Rum & Reggae on 17 July, Vegas Racenight on 24 July and, particularly for those of you who enjoy the music of Elton John, Rocketman at the Races on 7 August.
Tickets for all of our fixtures may be purchased through our website, windsorracecourse.co.uk, with tables in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant available as well as other delicious meal packages and trips to and from the racecourse by riverboat from the town centre It’s easy to make your choices online and there are discounts for early bookings.
For those of you who enjoyed the sartorial elegance of Gentlemen’s Day yesterday, please note a new date in the calendar for 2023 - Ladies Evening on Saturday 29 July, with prizes for the racegoers who catch the eye of our Style Awards judges This is certain to be one of our most popular events of the season, so please leave a place in your diary for what is bound to be a very special occasion
For now, we hope that you have a fun time at Royal Windsor today and that you take home happy memories If it’s your first ever trip to the races, we look forward to you returning for your second very soon!
Best wishes,
Liam Johnson Executive DirectorColour Graphic

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent orm under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
