WELCOME

Dear All,

After a week’s break at Royal Windsor Racecourse last Monday, we return this evening with the sizzling summer theme of Rum & Reggae, featuring the latest qualifier in the Fitzdares Sprint Series only three weeks from the £75,000 final on 7 August.

The UK’s number one Bob Marley tribute band Marley Revival returns to magically transport us to the Caribbean with classic hits and singalongs like One Love, Three Little Birds and No Woman No Cry. Combined with the roaming steel drummers and carnival dancers, it’s sure to be one of the most colourful spectacles of the year

During the performance the bars and street food stalls will remain open, making it possible for you to enjoy a final snack or drink as the sun goes down. We hear that rum cocktails go down particularly well with the tropical theme, so grab a seat and make sure you’ve got a good position when the concert begins!

Our two forthcoming dates are likely to be equally popular Next Monday we bring you Vegas Racenight, with a distinct Ratpack musical vibe; and the following Saturday, a new fixture for us on 29 July, is Ladies Evening with Style Awards prizes for the best-dressed racegoers.

Tickets are available on our website, windsor-racecourse.co.uk, with discounts applicable for early bookings. You can also choose from a variety of packages including tables in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant and transport to and from the racecourse by riverboat from the town centre.

As we enter the last month of our Monday evening schedule it’s time to reflect upon how fast the months have been flying by since our first meeting of 2023 in April. With summer now in full swing, we hope you will be able to make the most of this special time of year and join us again soon.

Best wishes,

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

C - Course winner

D - Distance winner

CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

This is likely to go the way of one of the 3-y-os, with ASCARI earning the vote He blew the start when dropped to 6f at Lingfield last time, so that run can be overlooked, and Hughie Morrison’s charge showed enough in maiden/novice company prior to that to suggest that he should be competitive off this sort of mark. The recent rain will help him, too, but it may not be ideal for the hat-trick seeking My Ambition, who otherwise holds strong claims Dream of Mischief completes the shortlist

TIFFANY stepped up on her initial efforts when landing an all-weather novice 3 weeks ago and, with the likelihood of better to come now faced with a stiffer test, she looks the way to go. The hat-trick seeking Absolute Queen looks set for another leading role and rates the main danger ahead of the up-in-trip Molly Valentine and the unexposed Whispering Royal. 1-2-3: 1.TIFFANY (IRE) 2.ABSOLUTE QUEEN (IRE) 3.MOLLY VALENTINE (IRE) colours
