SAT 29 JULY

Dear All,

WELCOME

Last Monday Royal Windsor Racecourse enjoyed a bumper attendance for Rum & Reggae and we are hoping for a similar party atmosphere today as we present Vegas Racenight, with a nostalgic Fifties and Sixties cabaret flavour to the musical theme after racing.

Rat Pack Live will be bringing all the razzamatazz of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr, reviving all-time favourites such as New York, New York, That’s Amore, My Way and Mr Bojangles

We are now gearing up for a new fixture in the Royal Windsor calendar because next Saturday (29 July) is Ladies Evening, with prizes for the best-dressed racegoers. Tickets and special packages are available for all our meetings on windsor-racecourse.co.uk, with discounts applicable to early bookings.

There’s another debut event coming on Monday 7 August with Rocketman at the Races, featuring the hits of Elton John The racing highlight will be the £75,000 Fitzdares Sprint Series Final, with the concluding qualifier taking place tonight.

It’s also time to remind you that we are again staging an evening of the Racing League on Thursday 17 August. There’s plenty of fun and banter to be had in racing’s very own team competition, with last year’s top managers Jamie Osborne and Matt Chapman again going head to head.

Although we are now well into the second half of the summer, some of our best fixtures are still to come We hope you will be able to visit again soon and share more special moments with us at our unique racecourse on the banks of the River Thames.

Best wishes,

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

BF - Beaten Favourite

C - Course winner

D - Distance winner

CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

JE NE SAIS QUOI soon got back on track when runner-up at Haydock on her nursery debut last time, travelling best, so she is taken to go one better.
