Royal Windsor Racecard - Monday 7th August

PERFORMING AFTER RACING

Official Raceday Programme £3.50

WELCOME

This evening we are delighted to introduce a new theme for Royal Windsor racecourse, as we bring you Rocketman at the Races featuring the sing-along hits of one of Britain’s most enduring pop performers Ultimate Elton and The Rocket Band will be on stage shortly after the final race, so make your way to the paddock lawn at the end of the day for a close-up view of the concert.

Another first-time act will be here for our biggest raceday of the year on Saturday 26 August - which we are calling Abba Party Raceday. Whilst The Winner Takes It All on the track, headlined by the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes, once the action has finished you can bring out your inner Dancing Queen and enjoy Bjorn Again LIVE after racing!

Before then we have Soul & Motown Racenight next Monday (14 August) and the third leg of this year’s Racing League on the evening of Thursday 17 August. This colourful annual tournament for regional teams offers big prize money and competitive racing as well as a party atmosphere and fun banter between those taking part.

Tickets for all these dates are available on our website windsor-racecourse.co.uk with meal packages and discounts for early bookings. I can also recommend the return riverboat journey from the town centre, surely the most stylish way to arrive at any racecourse in the country!

Many of you will have heard this week’s announcement that jump racing is set to return to Windsor on Sunday 14 December 2024. While this date is still some way into the future, we are excited by the prospect of seeing hurdlers and chasers at the course for the first time in two decades

Further announcements about the jumps programme will be made in due course. In the meantime, we hope you continue to enjoy the ever-popular summer Flat-race fixtures here at the Home of Monday Night Racing.

Best wishes,

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

D - Distance winner

CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
