WELCOME
The Saturday of August Bank Holiday has become well established as the pinnacle of our summer season, highlighted by the prestigious Group 3 Weatherbys Global Stallions Winter Hill Stakes over 1m2f and a classy Listed event, the Weatherbys Digital Solutions August Stakes, covering a full lap of the figure-of-eight circuit
The quality of the horses running in these two races alone will guarantee an entertaining evening of action on the track, with some of the top jockeys in the country heading to Royal Windsor to ride them. As always we invite you to check out the runners in the parade ring beforehand and then welcome them back to the winner’s enclosure when the races are over.
In addition, this year we welcome the world-famous tribute band Bjorn Again to headline our first-ever Abba Party Raceday. Dozens of legendary songs, first performed nearly 50 years ago, sound as fresh today as they did then and there’s sure to be a special atmosphere on the paddock lawn as we take you through the unforgettable songbook of the Swedish maestros.
The bars and street food stalls will stay open during the concert, enabling you to have a final drink or two, or a late bite to eat, as the sun goes down. Wherever you decide to spend the previous few hours, you’re welcome to take your place as close to the stage as you can and make the most of what remains of the summer!
However, there are still four more fixtures at Royal Windsor before we wind up for the year. The first of those will be on Monday 4 September when the theme is Ultimate‘80s Racenight, celebrating one of the most iconic decades in music history, followed by our concluding dates on three Monday afternoons in October
Though most of the season is behind us now, I hope you will be able to visit our website windsor-racecourse.co.uk to check out the variety of packages on offer. There’s still plenty of time to enjoy a trip to Royal Windsor before the chillier days of autumn arrive!
Best wishes,
Liam Johnson Executive Director

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

D - Distance winner
CD - Course & Distance winner
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Deauville Legend is the most proven competitor amongst the seven-strong field as he drops back into Listed company after six consecutive starts at Group level. Both Solid Stone and Outbox have also won at this level. The former landed the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes on this card back in 2021 and is in fact two from two at the track. Michael Stoute’s sevenyear-old has shown no signs of slowing down this term either, finishing third in
the Brigadier Gerard on return, just five lengths off Hukum, before a good sixth in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot when last seen. Archie Watson’s Outbox is twice a winner at Listed level and the front-running eight-year-old was last seenfinishingaclosesecondintheListed Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket. He did havetherunoftheracethatdaythough and SolidStone will likely be challenging forthatlead.

The Sea The Stars gelding was an impressive four-length victor of Lingfield handicap fromamarkof97onhispenultimatestart and will appreciate a quicker surface thanwhatheencounteredwhenblowing outatYorklatest.
Roger Varian’s Dubawi filly, Modaara, is an interesting contender with the four career starts under her belt. Following two mightily impressive novice victories, shetookherchanceinGroup3company at Haydock. Although she finished last, she was beaten just four lengths despite showing her inexperience in the closing stages, hanging left. The third has since gone on to land the Lancashire Oaks so the form is strong and the four-year-old isafullsistertothree-timeGroup1winner Benbatl.

Sir Michael Stoute is the winning-most trainer in the contest with nine victories, including the last two renewals, and he sends Wood Ditton winner Passenger An eye-catcher in the Dante Stakes, he travelled best through the race but was repeatedly denied a clear run and eventually finished third. That Dante has proven to be red-hot form throughout the season but the three-year-old must bounce back from a poor effort in the Derby when racing rather keen throughout. He receives plenty of weight from the older horses here though, and his Dante third sets the standard here in aweakercontest.
The other three-year-old in the contest is Royal Ascot winner Burdett Road for Michael Bell. An impressive winner of the Golden Gates Stakes from a mark of 90, he will appreciate the return to a quick surface as he didn’t appear to handle the soft ground when fifth in the Gordon Stakes last time out. The four-year-old found the Coral-Eclipse a little too much last time but a big run can be expected from this ultra-consistent horse. The ubertalented Billy Loughnane is called upon in the saddle to ride Savvy Victory, but is unable to utilise his claim at this level. He landed the Listed Gala Stakes on his penultimate start, and the second gave the form a good boost when winning a ListedeventatPontefractonhisnextstart. However,thefour-year-oldmustbounce back from a below par effort in the Rose OfLancasterStakeslasttimeout.
Fox Tal is clearly a talented horse but has proven difficult to keep on the track in recent times. He ran an excellent race in the Shergar Cup Mile on the back of a 211daybreakbutwasjustreeledininthe final strides by Perotto and should come on for the run here. Luke Dace’s Youthful King will likely be challenging that one fortheleadonthefrontendandfinished thirdintheShergarCupChallengeonthe same card when last seen, albeit beaten 12lengths.Thisisabigstepupinclass,his first start in Group company, but he is a tough and determined front-runner who willnotgiveuptheleadeasily.

RACE STATS RACE SUMMARY
DEAUVILLE LEGEND has a very solid overall record and can be given a chance to atone for his King George no show with cheekpieces added now. It looks significant that the Gosden stable is happy to step Lion’s Pride up to listed level so early in his career and it would be no surprise were he to give James Ferguson’s charge most to do
