WELCOME

Summers may come and go, but Irish Night at Royal Windsor racecourse remains an everlasting mainstay of every season and we are delighted to bring you the 2024 version this evening The combination of exciting horse racing and a party with live music and Guinness is a winner every time!

After the final race, the concert begins on the stage in the corner of the parade ring lawn in the form of The Biblecode Sundays, a London-based group with a unique blend of traditional Irish instruments and contemporary rock The nearby catering facilities, from the eateries to the bars to the ice cream van, will remain open throughout.

Next week it’s the Summer Garden Party, with roaming Alice In Wonderland-themed entertainment and the Ultimate Party Central Band playing on the lawn, followed by the Royal After Party on 24 June Then we switch to Saturday afternoon on 29 June for the iconic fashions and colour of Ladies Day - one of our top fixtures of the year

On the track tonight, the fourth race in the Fitzdares Sprint Series is a high-quality Class 2 handicap over five furlongs, the ultimate goal being a place in the valuable final in August. With £15,000 to the winner, a thrilling race is on the cards in what could be the most significant qualifier to have been run so far this season.

Full information for these dates, and those further into the future, is available in this racecard and on our website www.windsor-racecard.co.uk It’s easy to secure your place for any date, with multiple meal packages among the choices and discounts applying to early bookings and for groups of ten or more.

Whether you decide to spend your time with us in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant, or basing yourself at the tables on the lawn in anticipation of the post-racing music, there’s something for everybody at Royal Windsor We do hope you enjoy your evening here and that we will see you again soon on the banks of the River Thames.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

LORD OF LOVE left his previous form trailing in his wake when a keeping-on fourth at Newmarket 3 weeks ago, and with the promise of more to come over this trip, he could be the answer to an intriguing novice.
