Windsor Racecard - Monday 1st July

Page 1

WELCOME

The combination of a high-summer evening in beautiful surroundings, exciting horse racing and a live concert celebrating the songbook of one of the best-loved bands in music history, may seem like too perfect a concept to imagine. But tonight at Royal Windsor we have been able to turn those dreams into reality.

The Name of the Game is the ABBA Racenight Party, guaranteeing that you will receive maximum rewards for your Money Money Money this week By the end we will all be saying Thank You For the Music, which will be on the stage in the far corner of the paddock lawn after racing, with all catering facilities in the vicinity still open. Mamma Mia... what a time we’re going to have!

On the track we bring you the latest of the ten qualifiers in the Fitzdares Sprint Series, a six furlong event this time, with the grand final now just six weeks away on 12 August The top race on the card at 7.15 is backed up by another Fitzdares-sponsored handicap over a mile and a quarter at 7.45, which promises to be equally competitive, so we can expect thrilling finishes to both races.

As we enter the month of July, the Half Year Membership offer is still accessible through our website, www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk. From here you can guarantee yourself Club facilities at Windsor for the rest of the year along with entry to Arena Racing’s 15 other racecourses, like Bath, Brighton, Fontwell and Lingfield, all for just £195 per person.

Membership features four guest day-passes and £50 in spending money on food and drink; moreover, the earlier you are able to book this amazing offer, the more race meetings will be available to you as part of the deal. And while you are online you can order special raceday packages for all our future dates in 2024 including the return of jump racing in December

We take a midsummer break for one week next Monday, but we will resume on 15 July with the enduring delights of Rum & Reggae, then Soul & Motown on 22 July We look forward to seeing you again soon for the second half of the summer at the Home of Monday Night Racing.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

PORT HEDLAND is the only one of these without a recent run under his belt but he’s nevertheless very interesting now handicapping off a potentially handy opening mark. His appeal will be enhanced if the market vibes are upbeat. Make It Easy will be a big threat if able to bounce back, while handicap-debutant Big Time Rascal and Law of Average are also players in this trappy affair

This looks ripe for the 3-y-o SHAGRAAN, who has shaped well on each of his three starts for this yard, not least when fifth in a big-field 5f Royal Ascot handicap recently. He is likely to appreciate this step back up in trip. Amazonian Dream is in good form and should be on the premises once again, while Katey Kontent is also strongly considered Haymaker is bound to attract support in his hat-trick bid but this demands a clear personal-best from Hughie Morrison’s charge
