Royal Windsor Racecard - Monday 12th August

Page 1

WELCOME

Welcome to Royal Windsor Racecourse. After our hugely successful Ladies’ Night at the beginning of the month, Monday night racing returns in style with Vegas Night.

We hope you will stay on after the action on the track has finished to enjoy a reminder of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s seven-year residency at Las Vegas’s Westgate Resort & Casino brought to us by UK and European Grand Champion Elvis impersonator, J.D. King, performing live after racing. Inducted into the international Elvis impersonators Hall of Fame in 2019, he is not to be missed.

This evening’s card features the final of the valuable and ultra competitive Fitzdares Sprint Series won last year by Jack Channon’s Indian Creak in thrilling fashion. Jockey Rose Dawes’inspired decision to take her mount away from the pack to the far-side rail paid off delivering victory by just a neck from the fast finishing Lequinto and Andrea Atzeni in the £75,000 contest. Our thanks are due to Fitzdares for their support of racing here at Royal Windsor which extends to this evening’s entire card.

We return on Thursday evening when we play host to week four of racing’s unique team competition, Racing League Seven regional teams of horses, trainers and jockeys and their celebrity managers go head-to-head for the sport’s ultimate team prize. If you haven’t yet picked a team to follow a who’s who can be found at www.racingleague.uk –pick you team and come and cheer them on.

We hope to see you then but, in the meantime, for details of all our upcoming fixtures, early booking discounts, hospitality packages and availability, follow us on social media or visit us at www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk where you can also book online.

By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

Can be given little or no chance.

BF - Beaten Favourite

C - Course winner

D - Distance winner

CD - Course & Distance winner

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

LONGEST TRAVELLER: DYNAMITE DIVA trained by R Millman, Cullompton, 149 miles.

It was disappointing that PIRANHA RAMA failed to deliver under a penalty at Doncaster, but the form of her Ffos Las success four days earlier is working out well (second and third have both won since) and she is taken to resume winning ways Bentley Air and Miami Memories have failed to pull up any trees in their qualifying runs but they represent strong yards and may well take steps forward now pitched into a low-grade handicap They rate the main dangers ahead of Lift Lady

Not for the first time this season, ELMONJED shaped better than the bare result when third behind re-opposing Palmar Bay over C&D 2 weeks ago. He leaves the distinct impression he has a bigger effort in his locker and first-time blinkers could well put an extra edge on William Haggass’charge Trefor clearly wasn’t himself at York but is a definite threat on his previous exploits Aforementioned Palmar Bay and Haymaker are others to consider in an ultra-competitive final
