Veterinary Care

Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

A fairly useful minor event. SAIGON has shaped well both starts, and is sure to be suited by this step up in trip, so looks the one to beat. Earth Giant outran his odds on debut nearly a year ago and could improve enough to get involved. Course debut winner Lost Gold could have a lot more to offer judged on his pedigree, but has to concede a penalty. 1-2-3: 1.SAIGON 2.EARTH GIANT (IRE) 3.LOST GOLD (IRE) KEY colours
