LONGEST TRAVELLER: CHIVERS trained by D Steele, Henfield, 187 miles. RACE SUMMARY

It’s hard to be positive about most of these but CHEF DE TROUPE is well weighted and if he can back up his runner-up effort at Southwell 10 days ago he will be very competitive. Uncle Bernie needs everything to fall right but is also of interest, along with Percy Prosecco.

RACE FIVE

Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.
