VETERINARY CARE Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst. 5

It’s hard to get away from GATECRASHER GIRL, who barely broke sweat when landing a more competitive handicap than this on her recent reappearance at Nottingham. The best is surely yet to come from this filly and she should make light of her penalty. Bearing Bob has finished in the money on three of his four starts in handicaps here this year and looks set for another minor role. Spirit of Cimarron is best of the rest.
