Veterinary Care
Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse is given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race HHHHI Good chance of being placed HHHII By no means without a chance
HHIII At least one or two hold stronger claims HIIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope IIIII Can be given little or no chance
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this, your bet will not be accepted

GREAT BRITISH BONUS SCHEME The Great British Bonus (GBB) offers multiple bonuses of up to £20,000 per eligible race for British-bred fillies and mares.
BETTING DISPUTES & QUERIES Customers requiring the services of the Betting Ring Manager today should speak to a member of the Racecourse staff for assistance.
FOOD & DRINK Food and drink may not be brought into any enclosure. For safety reasons you are politely requested not to take bottles and glasses outside of the bar and restaurant areas.
VETERINARY CARE Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. 13

The vote goes to HUSCARI, who has performed with credit both starts since returning from a break last month and her latest effort at Southwell can be marked up a touch, as she wasn’t suited by the way the race unfolded. Gerrots put in a good shift on debut for this yard over 1 3/4m here and a reproduction of that would give him every chance of finally getting his head in front. RACE SUMMARY
The well-bred TARJEEH hasn’t been seen out since landing a Newbury novice last July, but he looked very promising that day and remains capable of better. If fully-tuned up for this assignment, he will take plenty of stopping. Elladonna and Leading Lion both stepped up on their respective debut efforts when hitting the crossbar last time and rate the main dangers, in that order of preference, while Running Star is another likely improver who could have a role to play.

HOT TEAM has been knocking on the door this season and he could be the answer to an open-looking handicap. An on-song Wilkie would be a threat off this reduced mark, while the consistent Global Tycoon is also shortlisted. Last-time-out-winners Pysanka and Sexy Rexy both merit respect, too.
