Veterinary Care
Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse is given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race HHHHI Good chance of being placed HHHII By no means without a chance
HHIII At least one or two hold stronger claims HIIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope IIIII Can be given little or no chance
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this, your bet will not be accepted

RACE SUMMARY BELLA BISBEE made a very promising start when runner-up on debut in a Chelmsford novice over this trip 9 days ago, looking a shade unfortunate not to prevail having been short of room at a crucial stage. Open to improvement, she can confirm the promise of that effort and go one place better. BETTING DISPUTES & QUERIES Customers requiring the services of the Betting Ring Manager today should speak to a member of the Racecourse staff for assistance.
VETERINARY CARE Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. 15

MISS BLUEBELLE had excuses on her latest outing at Goodwood 6 weeks ago and, boasting a steadily progressive profile previously, she could be worth siding with to get back on the up now tackling this trip for the first time. The in-form Percy Willis and Stonking head up the dangers, with Way of Life another in the mix. 1-2-3: 1.MISS BLUEBELLE (IRE) 2.PERCY WILLIS 3.STONKING KEY colours

RACE SUMMARY SUN FESTIVAL registered his third success of the year when striking at Chelmsford in September and did little wrong when finding one too good at the same course next time. He looks the most solid option. Come On John has slipped to a workable mark and, having caught the eye last time, he looks dangerous, while Ermin Street will also be a threat if he puts his best foot forward now tried in cheekpieces following a wind op. LAURA’S BREEZE went agonisingly close to opening her account at Kempton last week and, turned out again quickly off the same mark from a good draw and with Billy Loughnane booked, she is taken to get the job done this time. Sir Titan gave it a good shot when runner-up over C&D a fortnight ago and should be on the premises once more. Daafy is of interest back on the all-weather, while last-time-out winners My Boy Jack and, to a lesser extent, Wilde And Dandy are also likely to have a say.
