Veterinary Care

Horse welfare is a priority at Wolverhampton. At every meeting there are two specially qualified Equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses in action. One vet is present at the start of each race and during the race follows the runners in a vehicle. Horses can be attended to in the same time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys. The second vet follows the action from the stands and coordinates the required response to any incidents. In addition, throughout the meeting a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected around the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.

With no strength in depth to this maiden, EMBROIDERED CLOTH is worth chancing despite being absent since making his debut at Doncaster in April 2022. Better was clearly expected on that occasion (sent off favourite) and it will look significant if there’s confidence behind him in the betting. Moon Flight is the obvious one but he’s proving expensive to follow and it’s hard to pin down what his optimum trip is. Kaidu and Kanohi Breeze are others to consider.

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (18-23): D Evans (75 wins from 617 runners, 12%) runs EAGLE DAY TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): D Evans (1 win from 14 runners, 7%) runs EAGLE DAY LONGEST TRAVELLER: ENOLA GREY trained by G Tutty, Northallerton, 155 miles. RACE SUMMARY ENOLA GREY did well to finish as close as she did on debut for this yard at Newcastle last week, given that she blew the start. She will have every chance of going one better this time, provided she breaks more sharply. The hat-trick seeking Red Hat Eagle is an obvious threat and he is next on the list ahead of Eagle Day, who is of interest judged on his C&D near-miss last month. King of The Dance and Ravenglass are live each-way candidates. 1-2-3: 1.ENOLA GREY (IRE) 2.RED HAT EAGLE 3.EAGLE DAY (IRE) KEY colours

LONGEST TRAVELLER: DUTCH KINGDOM trained by D Holland, Newmarket, 125 miles. RACE SUMMARY

PRINCE ALI has continued to run well in defeat since scoring over C&D in September and this looks a decent opportunity for him to regain the winning thread. Cliffs of Capri remains one to be interested in despite a less-than-ideal draw, with Green Power also expected to bounce back having been left with too much to do over C&D last time.
