Horse & Jockey Welfare at Wolverhampton

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital. It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www. wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk.

It’s been a while since COPPER MOUNTAIN last tasted success but her turn is surely near judged on near misses at Newcastle the last twice and this step back up in trip looks a good move. The vote goes to the consistent BRAZEN IDOL, who wasn’t beaten at all far when fourth over this C&D back from a three-month break recently, leaving the impression that his new mark is by no means beyond him. The Waiting Game won four on the bounce during the summer and probably would’ve added to her tally but for encountering traffic problems here last time. She is feared most ahead of Beauty Choice, Hallowed Time and Starshiba.
