WEIGHTWATCHER: SHALAA ASKER won off a handicap mark of 79, his rating is now down 7lb to 72.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: MINT MAN trained by P J F Murphy, Ireland.

Irish-challenger MINT MAN can race off the same mark as when a very good Naas runner-up last time out so looks the way to go in this competitive handicap My Mate Mike arrives on the up and rates a big danger though, while both Danzan and Muscika can also have a say. Shalaa Asker completes the shortlist.

LEADING COURSE TRAINER (19-24): R Fahey (42 wins from 429 runners, 10%) runs MASTER ZOFFANY TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): R Fahey (8 wins from 55 runners, 15%) runs MASTER ZOFFANY

WEIGHTWATCHER: MASTER ZOFFANY won off a handicap mark of 86, his rating is now down 6lb to 80. LONGEST TRAVELLER: BARBAPAPA trained by H De Bromhead, Ireland.

Team North’s MASTER ZOFFANY took a step back in the right direction when third at Ripon recently and is worth siding with to build on that having dipped to a mark 6lb lower than the one he defied on this surface at Newcastle at the end of 2023 Noodle Mission just gets better and better for Edward Smyth-Osbourne and is second choice ahead of the thriving Red Hat Eagle and Irish-raider Barbapapa in another fiercely-contested handicap.

WEIGHTWATCHER: TIGER CRUSADE won off a handicap mark of 95, his rating is now down 7lb to 88. LONGEST TRAVELLER: DAAMBERDIPLOMAT trained by J P Murtagh, Ireland.

ABERAMA GOLD is threatening to come good again soon off a potentially handy mark (won Stewards’ Cup around this time last year off 5lb higher) so shades the vote over Intervention, who ran his best race yet on the turf when third at Doncaster last time and is even better on AW. Daamberdiplomat caught the eye at Fairyhouse 3 weeks ago and is another to consider.

The Racing League Joker Card

The Joker doubles the points won by the two horses representing the team in a given race. When played, the team receives double points in that given race, but it is not applied to individual jockey points.

Each manager will have the opportunity to play two Jokers during the 2024 competition. One Joker must be played at the team’s designated ‘home fixture’, the other Joker can be played in any of the other 42 races, where at least 12 horses are running (or 11 horses running at Wolverhampton).

The team manager will announce their intention to play a Joker in the Paddock, directly before the selected race This is done by placing a Joker card alongside the team name on the scoreboard in the Paddock.
