Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

Exeter hunter winner PORT O’CLOCK could easily have more to come now handicapping for new trainer David Pipe so he’s the suggestion. Trumps Benefit is well handicapped and will be a major threat if his stamina holds. Dalkingstown arrives in form, while Regaby could be at concert pitch after a couple of comeabck runs so there are few to consider despite the lack of numbers. 1-2-3: 1.PORT O’CLOCK (IRE) 2.TRUMPS BENEFIT (IRE) 3.DALKINGSTOWN KEY colours

HORSE WELFARE It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected whilst a diagnosis of the injury is made by one of the three veterinary surgeons deployed around the course. The screens are designed to afford privacy during this diagnosis. Please do not always assume the worse, and at all times the horse’s welfare is our paramount concern.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: AL ROC trained by D Pipe, Wellington, 116 miles. RACE SUMMARY There was a lot to like about LA DOMANIALE’s Uttoxeter chase debut success and she can follow up with improvement on the cards. Ashoka has been in good form over hurdles of late and is arguably even better over fences so he’s a threat. THE NEU-SERVO SIEMENS SERVO HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4) Total race value £9300 x Owners Prize Money. 1st £3589, 2nd £1795, 3rd £897, 4th £449, 5th £280, 6th £280. (Penalty Value £4683.56)

RACE STATS LEADING COURSE TRAINER (17-22): Jonjo O’Neill (27 wins from 157 runners, 17%) runs PERSIA TRAINER-IN-FORM (LAST 14 DAYS): Fergal O’Brien (7 wins from 25 runners, 28%) runs COURTANDBOULD WEIGHTWATCHER: JAMACHO won off a handicap mark of 123, his rating is now down 8lb to 115. LONGEST TRAVELLER: ISAAC WONDER trained by P York, Effingham Common, 132 miles. RACE SUMMARY A fairly useful winner on the Flat, CADEAU D’OR hasn’t gone without promise in a couple of maiden/novice hurdles for his new yard this spring and, with the return to 2m/switch to handicaps both positives, he could well be worth siding with to take a step forward. Inn The Bull ran well over further at Ludlow and is feared, along with Ffos Las scorer Chasamax. 1-2-3: 1.CADEAU D’OR (FR) 2.INN THE BULL (GER) 3.CHASAMAX (IRE) KEY colours
