A very warm welcome to you all here at Worcester Racecourse. We have a jam-packed race card for you all to enjoy this Wednesday afternoon, following a total of 87 horses declared. As a result of this, we now run 8 races on good, good to soft ground, with the Mare’s Novices Hurdle dividing.

The team here at Worcester Racecourse would like to wish everybody a very enjoyable afternoon and do hope we can welcome you back for our Season Finale later this month on 27th October.

Today we have numerous sponsors of which we would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your generous support of the racecourse. If you are interested in sponsoring a race and be a real part of the action, please do get in touch with a member of our team.

When walking around the Course, do look out for the IJF stand who are here today to showcase what they do for the industry. Their services are incomparable; for jockeys needing medical support and rehabilitation, racing staff who need advice, but also their families who might just need some support and guidance. You can find out more on what they do at www.injuredjockeys.co.uk

With Christmas fast approaching too, we are pleased to announce our Christmas Party dates. Come and celebrate the festive season with us on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Saturday 17th December with a 3 course festive dinner and dance. Visit our website for full details (www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk).

Thank you all once again for your continuous support of Worcester Racecourse and we are already really are looking forward to a very much anticipated 2023.

WORCESTER RACECOURSE is part of Arena Racing Company which includes; Bath, Brighton, Chepstow, Doncaster, Ffos Las, Fontwell Park, Great Yarmouth, Hereford, Lingfield Park, Newcastle, Royal Windsor, Sedgefield, Southwell, Uttoxeter and Wolverhampton racecourses.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

RACE SUMMARY

MANOTHEPEOPLE was on the up over hurdles when last seen 7 months ago and appeals as the type to make an even better chaser, so a chance is taken on him to complete the hat-trick on reapparance. His stablemate Autonomous Cloud looks a danger and Easkey Lad is also worthy of consideration on the back of a comfortable success at Uttoxeter.
