The Craic is back!
Welcome to Worcester Racecourse for a thrilling evening of jump racing, Irish fun and Live Music.
This evening we welcome back, after popular demand, My Tin Monkey. The 3-piece Irish Band who get the party started.
On the track we have a total of 64 horses declared, across 8 races. The highlight of the card is the 18:50 Handicap Chase with a great prize pot of £12,000. With this fabulous weather we have been having, a huge shout out and thank you to our grounds team is deserved. It is really challenging for them in these temperatures and to get our ground in great racing condition.
We have a full house of sponsors today; Pure Protection, Partex Marking Systems, Bumblehole Foods, Appliance Solutions, PJ Nicholls and FBC Mamby Bowler all supporting Worcester Racecourse of which we are very grateful for. As a team, we wish you a very enjoyable evening with us and hope we can welcome you back again soon.
Off the track, you can see the redevelopment of the weighing room is progressing. The tower crane arrived this week and the steel frame will be put into place. Follow us on our socials for a progress report; we are already very excited for the finished item.
One of our team members, Sean White, is participating in a great challenge next month, in aid of a fantastic charity, Racing Welfare. It is one close to us all who work in the racing industry so if you can spare any change, please do look out for the bucket collection throughout the evening. For more details, please visit https://racingwelfare.co.uk/challenges-archive/ yorkshire-three-peaks-challenge/
Now that our Season is fully up and running, we are looking ahead to our next upcoming fixtures. Follow us on our social media platforms for an update on what is going on, but we really cannot wait for Gentleman’s Evening later in July, as well as Family Fun Day in September. Both events are not to be missed, but there will certainly more exiting race days ahead. Watch this space!
Thank you all for supporting Worcester Racecourse and have a great evening with us and good luck!
We hope to see you again for our next race day on Wednesday 21st June for a great afternoon of racing.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

WELCOME BACK to Worcester Racecourse
As you may have noticed, there are a few changes around the racecourse. At the end of last season, we started work on the new Weighing Room facility which we hoped would be ready for today.
Sadly, the weather has seriously impacted the work that has been taking place across our off season. Whilst significant flooding of the racecourse site is not uncommon during the winter months, the River Severn has run at particularly high levels on a number of occasions this year, encroaching on to the footprint of the development as per the image below.
Whilst the work now continues apace, we will today be using the temporary Weighing Room facilities that we used throughout last season, and our thanks go to the Jockeys, Valets and Officials with whom we have cooperated on this project.
We appreciate the slight difference that you’ll see in the Racecourse over upcoming fixtures, but very much look forward to opening the new Weighing Room as soon as we can later this summer.
As ever, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
