FRIDAY 29 SEPTEMBER worcester-racecourse.c SEPTEMBER
FIXED BRUSH FIXED BRU
Family Fun Day has arrived!
We wish you all a very fun-filled day with us here at Worcester Racecourse. The sunshine has come out to join us, so grab a drink and soak up the atmosphere. We have something for everyone this afternoon.
Firstly, to all runners and riders, we wish you the very best of luck and hope all connections have a very enjoyable race day with us.
A very special welcome to our long serving headline sponsor today Neu-Servo, who has been supporting Worcester Racecourse for many years and are now very much part of the family. It is fantastic to welcome you back for one of our feature days and we do hope that you all enjoy your day with us.
Neu-Servo have not only sponsored the full race card, but they have very generously donated £1,000 to MacMillan Cancer Support, a charity which has touched the lives of many and I am sure will continue to. Please do come down the parade ring for the last race and show your support for this presentation.
Additionally to this, we have plenty going on this afternoon. Over in centre course we have all the family entertainment with inflatables, face painting, bumper cars and also the treasure hunt where you can find more details within this race card. The highlight of today is of course the Shetland ponies who are new to Worcester Racecourse. Their race will be at 13:00 so don’t forget to come down to the parade ring and pick your winner! Good luck to everyone!
On the 6th September, Worcester Racecourse are taking part in a Dragon Boat Challenge on behalf of Racing Welfare; a fantastic charity which supports the whole of the racing industry. It is proving to be very competitive already with top yards competing against each other, National Hunt jockeys holding a team, as well as ARC vs The Jockey Club! Within this race card you will find more details on what is involved and how you can donate… we need all the luck we can get!
Our next feature day is at the end of this month, Friday 29th September which is our Fixed Brush Series Final fixture where all the top horses of the series come and race to take the £70,000 prize. It will be a very exciting day, so do get ahead and book your tickets to avoid disappointment. We still have tables in our restaurant and hospitality available, so if you wish to make your day extra special please call the office on 01905 25364. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on our website www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk
Good luck to everyone today and I hope we can welcome you back on another occasion soon.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
