AFTERNOON RACING MON 18 SEP Official Raceday Programme & Form Guide | £3.50
SERIES FINAL FIXED BRUSH FRIDAY 29 SEPTEMBER worcester-racecourse.c SEPTEMBER
Starting your week off well, here at Worcester Racecourse.
Today’s race card is jam packed with 8 exciting races, particularly the second which is our feature race “The Get Pulling with PJ Nicholls Ssangyong Handicap Chase” with a prize pot of £22,600 up for grabs. So why not grab a drink, find a comfortable spot and soak up the atmosphere here this afternoon.
A welcome back to James Bowen, who has been off the track for a long 7 months after breaking his wrist at Huntingdon. From us all here at Worcester Racecourse, we wish you a very safe return.
Ensure you are down by the Parade Ring for the last race, of which is for Neil Painting AKA Bagsy who is a highly recognised, much loved valet. Bagsy is retiring this week after over 20 years supporting many jockeys across the country. We wish you a very happy retirement, enjoy the fishing, golfing, gardening and driving around with Nico. And we are sure, the jockeys will come together to show their thanks.
We also welcome today Amber Beverley-Smith, who has been battling cancer at the young age of 11 A huge fan of horses and in celebration of completing treatment and going back to school, we welcome Amber, her best friend and family here today. We hope you all have a very enjoyable and memorable day. Our other sponsors today to note are PJ Nicholls, Haus Installations, Eventmasters and Vickers Bet.
Sponsorship is a great way to promote your business or even celebrate a special occasion, whilst getting up close to the horses. There is a large range of benefits to sponsoring so if you are looking to make your day with us extra memorable, then please drop us an email at info@worcester-racecourse.co.uk where we can provide you with more details.
Although this may seem very early to some, we have just over 3 months to go until Christmas. Here at Worcester Racecourse we are holding 4 shared Christmas parties, which are all nearly sold out. If you are looking to book somewhere to celebrate, take a look at the back cover of this racecard for more details, but please do get booking quickly to ensure you are not disappointed.
Our next feature day is at the end of this month, Friday 29th September which is our Fixed Brush Series Final fixture where all the top horses of the series come and race to take the £70,000 prize. We still have tables in our restaurant and hospitality available, so if you wish to make your day extra special please call the office on 01905 25364 Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on our website www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk
Keep up to date with everything which is going on here at Worcester Racecourse on our Social Media. You will find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Good luck to everyone today and I hope we can welcome you back on another occasion soon.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
