Due to popular demand, Rum & Reggae Race night is back!

Why not enjoy a cocktail, grab a seat, and soak up the Caribbean atmosphere with seven exciting races and finish the evening with EMZ All Stars in the middle of the County Enclosure.

We would like to welcome all owners and trainers here today; with a special welcome to Al Gasparo and all connections, who has travelled from Ireland for Gavin Cromwell. Best of luck in our ARC Summer Novices Brush Hurdle Series, of which the final is fast approaching and it is expected to be a fantastic race to attend for one of our best race days of the season.

We welcome back some returning sponsors today, of which are Forge Cattery, Guests of Martin Larner, Universal Banners, PJ Nicholls and guest of Joe Norris who are all here today to remember their family member Peter Dawson. As always, we appreciate your support and wish you all a very enjoyable day.

After racing, join us for some brilliant reggae music from EMZ All Stars. It certainly will be a great way to finish off your evening so grab a rum cocktail from the RumShack and dance the night away. A special thanks for Bespoke Entertainment Worcester for providing the stage, lighting and AV equipment; we really feel the new stage position brings Worcester Racecourse together for a much more enjoyable time with us.

Should you have any feedback on our race days, please do get in touch with us via email on info@worcester-racecourse.co.uk

With just six more fixtures left for 2024, we still have plenty going on. Should you wish to make a day of it with race sponsorship, hospitality or a table within our restaurant; please do get in touch with our team on 01905 25364 or info@worcester-racecourse.co.uk for more details.

Dino Day is our next race day which is happening in just a few days on Sunday 1st September There is plenty to be seen and a very exciting announcement that not only the dinosaurs will be joining us but also two pony races, which is part of a great grassroots program for up and coming jockeys.

See you again on Sunday!

Horse & Jockey Welfare at Worcester

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary

Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk.

Safety

In the interests of public safety all visitors to the Racecourse should follow directions of the Safety Stewards on the Stands and the Race Day Staff throughout the Racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. It is an offence to be drunk at a sporting event and for this reason people clearly under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave the racecourse. Racegoers are requested to be particularly aware of their personal safety in all areas where they come into close contact with the horses, such as the parade ring and the horse walks.

Seating/Viewing

Racegoers are requested not to stand in the marked gangways on the Grandstand Steppings as this will compromise safety

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
