Welcome everyone who is here with us today for this mid-week autumn evening of racing.
Today, we have 7 races kindly supported by an array of sponsors. You will find more information on each of them within this race card, but a huge thanks to the author Paul Ferguson, Worcester FA, FBC Mamby Bowdler, Jennings Bet, Planet Sport Bet, Eventmasters and Jackie Humphries who are here to remember Les Ballard.
For those who follow National Hunt Jump Racing, Paul’s book is well worth purchasing as it is an essential guide to the 2024/2025 jump season. Pre-order now at https://weatherbysshop.co.uk.
You will see here today, around the hospitality marquee, that we have had some pipes burst, of which have required significant works to not only repair it but also to enable us to keep racing. A special thanks to D.C Builders and Sons who we have been working with, on all hours, to fix all these burst pipes. The grounds team have also been working hard to keep the track in great condition, so we must thank them all for their continuously hard work.
With just 4 more fixtures left for 2024, we really can’t believe how quick our season has been. We have just a few more places left in our restaurant, hospitality and also available races to sponsor, so should you wish to make a day of it with us; please do get in touch with our team on 01905 25364 or info@worcester-racecourse.co.uk for more details.
Our Christmas parties are now on sale, so if you are looking for a venue to party the night away; why not join us on either Friday 6th, Saturday 7th, Friday 13th or Saturday 14th December All details can be found on our website www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk
We race again on Monday 16th September so hopefully we can welcome you back here then.
Have a great day and good luck!

Horse & Jockey Welfare at Worcester
Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary
Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk.

HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

Good ground seems to suit and he is likely to make a bold bid to follow-up, with the Skelton stable in great order at present. Beat Box completed a quickfire summer hat-trick at Newton Abbot on Monday, taking the trainer’s seasonaltallyto50.

On each occasion he wore cheek-pieces–whichremaininplace today – and given that the recently married trainer also has his string in fine form at present, he looks to be a seriouscontenderonchasedebut.

HORSE WELFARE
It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected whilst a diagnosis of the injury is made by one of the three veterinary surgeons deployed around the course. The screens are designed to afford privacy during this diagnosis.
Please do not always assume the worse, and at all times the horse’s welfare is our paramount concern.
