Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: ★★★★★ Selected to win the race. ★★★★✩ Good chance of being placed. ★★★✩✩ By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims ★★✩✩✩ Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. ★✩✩✩✩ Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Proud Champions of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme All of our member racecourses participate in the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme, a nationwide initiative for those with disabilities that may not be visible. A sunflower lanyard discretely signals to staff that the person wearing the lanyard may need additional support or a little more time when attending racedays. Guests are welcome to bring their own lanyards or to register in advance by contacting the racecourse they’ll be attending. Sunflower lanyards can also be collected at certain entrance points. If you would like more information, please ask a member of staff.

This looks a strong race for the grade, with QUEEN OF BURGUNDY perhaps the answer. She failed to land a significant punt starting out for a new yard 11 days ago but the return to 7f is sure to suit this previous course winner. Camerily Joe and Hunters Step could be the chief threats. 1-2-3: 1.QUEEN OF BURGUNDY 2.CAMERILY JOE 3.HUNTERS STEP KEY colours

SUMMER’S KNIGHT found just one too good in a valuable Haydock handicap last time and is very hard to oppose back in 0-75 company. He is only 3lb higher here and remains open to improvement. Geremia opened his account on the all-weather recently and should benefit from this step up in trip, but Zookeeper, who also looks ready for this stiffer test, is preferred for forecast purposes. 1-2-3: 1.SUMMER’S KNIGHT 2.ZOOKEEPER (IRE) 3.GEREMIA (IRE) KEY colours
