01 178 Suffolk Street
In the Spring of 2016, the award-winning New York-based architecture firm, Architecture in Formation, was approached to do a second-floor loft renovation on the Lower Eastside in Manhattan. The client was a young filmmaker looking for a modern, clean residence with unique touches. The design focused on creating a highly custom, and cleanly detailed project that would accommodate a young bachelor in New York City. The client also owned a large collection of photographs and artwork. The entire project was realized in 7 months (3 months for design and permits, 4 months for construction.) My role was as project manager and designer. I oversaw all aspects of this project: executed and issued all design
and construction documents, details, sketches, renders, orders, and requests from the client. I was also the liaison between the client and the contractor. I worked closely with Principle Architect Matt Bremer to deliver this project within the prescribed schedule. I was given tremendous responsibility and freedom in the design of this project.

02 21c Art Storage Facility
This project focuses on creating a central storage facility for the 21c Museum Hotel chain based in Louisville, Kentucky. The 21c Museum Hotels hold a large private collection of contemporary art, rotated between the locations around the country, including Cincinnati, Bentonville, Durham, Lexington, Oklahoma City, Nashville, and Kansas City. The project’s main purpose is for the storage, refurbishment, and preservation of 21c’s art collection. A secondary focus is on creating a unique experience in keeping with 21c’s mission of art. We incorporated a public gallery, atrium, rooftop party deck, and a public cinema.

03 XL
XL focuses on making a venue for Lexington to celebrate its love of University of Kentucky Basketball. It creates a large scale public gathering space with a housing component to emphasize and enhance the power of spectator culture in modern society. The project uses Rupp Arena, a 25,000+ spectator arena, and UK Basketball, the most winning collegiate basketball team in history as the argument for how sports can be a catalyst for urban change. The site’s program focuses on adding public amenities including a sports field, an outdoor cinema, a public plaza, commercial shops, and a large housing complex.

National Championship Timeline The University of Kentucky Men’s basketball team holds eight National Championship Titles and the most wins of any collegiate men’s basketball team. Time line shows how those celebrations impact on the city of Lexington, KY, where crowd numbers have soared to 10,000+ after a national championship.

Stadium for Living The relationship between the housing and public plaza programs would create an interesting “Arena of Living” where residents would become spectators of those who are about to spectate, “spectating the spectacle”.

04 New Americana
New Americana is a house proposal for the EnviroHome Charette design competition held by the Vanhoose Co. The objective was to develop a 1500 sq-ft house utilizing EnviroCast precast concrete wall panels developed by the Vanhoose Co. The design take cues from traditional American building vernaculars such as Shaker meeting houses, New Orleans-style shotgun houses, and small regional churches.

05 Kinky Boots
The purpose of the design elective course is to explore patterns or natural phenomena and their application in fashion. Through the use of modern design work-flows, such as scripting in Grasshopper and using other analytical plug-ins, such as Eve to better explore the process. “Kinky Boots” explores the tubercle effect, a phenomenon where large ‘bumps’ are used along the leading edge of a surface to improve its aerodynamics or hydrodynamic properties. The tubercle pattern is evenly applied to the shoe and only deforms based on the curvature of the surface of the shoe.
