Summer shows

annual ISD exhibitions

With a team of fellow students, we designed the introduction space for the Interior and Spatial Design (ISD) degree show 2009, displaying work of nongraduating students, including mine. The aim was to introduce the department and display the work produced by first and second year students, while creating a transition between the graduating student’s show and the rest of the departments.

The red elevated pathway at the center directs you to the main rooms of the exhibition, while allowing you to catch a glimpse of a compilation of students’ work projected onto an undulating screen.

Put together with 4 other graduates, with help from other students we designed and built this final exhibition, displaying our undergraduate degree projects. The TVs in the middle played our «making of» videos while the final pieces were being displayed around the room. The subtle differences between reality and fiction in my site-specific video (displayed on the iTouch and available for live testing) created doubt and distorted reality.

I was able to alter the viewer’s spatial and temporal understanding by using different editing processes. The video-projection on the wall between the two windows was an example of the types of misleading scene I used in the iPod movie. The footage projected onto the blocked off window was a film of the making of the exhibition, filmed in that very room from the outside in.
