Late at Tate Sublime Environments Late at Tate installation
Along with five fellow students*, I was given the opportunity to respond and re-create Greenhouse Gas on the Rootstein Hopkins Parade ground (Chelsea College of Art and Design) to coincide with Late at Tate “Sublime Environment, in February 2009. We decided to re-create the volume using the balloons and adding the small balls covered in glowing paint. This way, the piece (meant to be seen at night) would have more volume to it. *Claire Chenut, Marie Exer, Jenny Hill, Sharrareh Samangani and Theresa Williams
In 2008, Chris Wainwright and Sunan Prasad collaborated with Cape Farewell to create Greenhouse Gas during their expedition in Disko Bay, Greenland. Greenhouse Gas consisted of four tethered helium balloons delimiting 540 cubic meters. This volume represents represents one ton of carbon dioxide, which is the average monthly per head emission of the UK.
