August 2021

Join Us at Summer Heat!

We

are very excited about our Summer Shows next weekend, August 21 & 22. We received many entries for the show and have filled it to capacity!

We are sorry that some of you missed the opportunity this time, but we are working with Westworld for an even bigger show next year. Next year we will have the show inside again, and with three competition rings, two warm up arenas, and indoor stabling. The Summer Heat Show (08/21) starts at 7 a.m. and our last rider goes in at 7:37 p.m. The Some More Heat Show (08/22) starts at 7:00 a.m. and the last rider goes in at 6:51 p.m. If you are not showing this time, come by to cheer on your friends and check out our new Indoor Show venue! We will be inside chilling in the cool AC and not have a worry about the weather. We will also have several new vendors for this show and it is open to the public! Stop by to check it out!

As a reminder, The Dressage Foundation has three upcoming grants for youth, amateurs, and instructors due in September. If you can help us spread the word to members in your Region, we would really appreciate it! Here are the September grants, plus I am attaching some photos that can be used on social media. These can be shared or forwarded. Thank you so much! Cynthia Aspden Youth and Young Adult Development Fund: Due September 1st The Cynthia Aspden Youth and Young Adult Development Fund provides financial assistance to youth and young adult riders (age 25 and under) to aid in their development in dressage. Grants awarded will typically be $1,000, to be used for educational experiences that are not within the horse and rider's typical training plan. These may include events such as USDF's youth outreach clinics or Dressage4Kids Emerging Dressage Athlete Program or Winter Intensive Training Program. Gifted Fund for Adult Amateurs: Due September 15th The Gifted Fund should be used to give permission to adult amateur riders to set aside quality time, in concentrated training, away from the daily pressures of job and family. The recipients will be able to spend time bonding with their horses; grooming them, giving them a spa bath, grazing them, as well as receiving lessons that they normally wouldn't be able to have. Volunteerism is an important requirement for these grants; preference is given to applicants who have strong volunteer history with their GMOs. The best applications include a training program of 5-7 consecutive days with the same trainer. However, it is not required that you travel away from home. Training plans must have reasonable, attainable goals. Up to nine $1,500 grants are available each year (one in each USDF Region), plus two additional $1,500 wild card grants (which can be awarded in any Region). Major Lindgren Instructor Education Grants: Due September 30th Three $4,000 grants will be awarded each year to dressage instructors to train in a concentrated amount of time of at least one week. Applicants are not required to be USDF Certified Instructors, however, preference will be given to USDF Certified Instructors.
