If you have a dream, we can help you bring it to reality. The College of Engineering offers 13 undergraduate majors. Our motto is “infinite possibilities” and our programs give you the chance to explore, discover, and realize your ideas. Our programs focus on both the fundamentals and applications of engineering, and we expect a great deal from our students. Each year we welcome a strong group of students with encouragement and give them the tools to become the leaders of tomorrow. If you come here prepared, I guarantee we will help you achieve success. I promise to support you with tutoring, academic and professional advising, mentoring, and a current and challenging curriculum. Our faculty and staff care about your future. If you enroll in engineering, our goal is to graduate you in the engineering field of your choice and to help you get to the next level. Not only will you be scholastically prepared, but we strongly encourage leadership practices in our students. The ability to work on multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively, and understand professional and ethical responsibilities will be learned and developed through our on-campus programs and activities such as: Engineering Ambassadors, Engineering Student Council, our many student organizations, design teams, University of Arizona Leadership Programs, Fraternity and Sorority Programs, and the Honors College. 13 majors committed to excellence and innovation Aerospace Engineering: Take the science of flight and space exploration to new heights. Design, build, and test aircraft, propulsion systems, rockets, and spacecraft. Biomedical Engineering: Combine the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to improve the human condition. Biosystems Engineering: Design systems for the production, processing, and use of agricultural, biological, biochemical, and water resources to engineer a sustainable future. Chemical Engineering: Create the products of tomorrow by using chemical processes to manipulate biological systems, refine raw materials, protect the environment, and much more. Civil Engineering: Design resilient and sustainable buildings, bridges, roads, tunnels, water systems, and infrastructure to meet the needs of society. Electrical & Computer Engineering: Integrate hardware and software to create intelligent systems, integrated circuits, optical imaging systems, operating systems, and more.

Materials Science & Engineering: Apply theory and methodologies to design new metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, semiconductors, composites and more to define the next age of materials technology. Mechanical Engineering: Solve complex problems of mechanical systems using kinematics and ingenuity to design automobile components, biomedical systems, robots, and machines tools. Mining Engineering: Manage the lifecycle of a mining operation from exploration and mine operations to mineral processing and sustainability in a hands-on setting. Optical Sciences & Engineering: Use the properties of light to build new ways of looking at the universe and create the next generation of cutting-edge technology. Systems Engineering: Model and implement complex systems to see the big picture of engineering in fields like health care, space exploration, defense, and manufacturing.

Engineering Management: Engineer a change in industry leadership practices by combining engineering and business courses to prepare for management positions in technology-based companies. Industrial Engineering: Improve and optimize complex systems such as production planning, manufacturing, quality assurance, facility planning, and information management.

Honors Engineering Scholars The College of Engineering and the Honors College support a community of scholars who desire an enhanced academic curriculum with opportunities for involvement in undergraduate research, professional societies, community service, and study abroad. Engineering students selected to be a part of the Honors College benefit from smaller class sizes, priority class registration, funded research projects, and additional advising resources.

Senior Design During their final year in the College of Engineering, every student will complete a senior design project. Whether through an interdisciplinary project or a major specific project, our seniors are putting their knowledge into action. Throughout the year, students produce designs, analyses, and prototypes that will be used by their industry and research group sponsors. This gives our students a unique opportunity to build ties with industry and make an impact with employers while still in school.

programs to enrich your experience Student Clubs and Organizations Student clubs and organizations are an integral part of the University of Arizona engineering student experience. Whether you are interested in designing and building off-road vehicles, formula race cars, RC planes, rockets, concrete canoes, or steel bridges to take into competition or networking with industry leaders, building your resume, helping your community, or getting leadership experiences, there is an organization for you. We have over 40 clubs and organizations which span a wide range of activities and professional interests from which to choose.

Academic Success Program Your success is vital to the College of Engineering. Along with our diverse advising staff of faculty and professional advisors, we have partnerships with Think Tank, Tau Beta Pi Honor Society, and the Women in Engineering Board help to academically support our engineering students with free study groups, foundational courses, and test review sessions held throughout the semester and on campus to accommodate student’s schedules.

Entrepreneurship The University of Arizona embraces innovation and entrepreneurship as 21st century competencies for our engineers. Through the McGuire Entrepreneurship Program in the Eller College of Management, senior engineering students receive a year of intensive experiential education in the process of moving innovation from conception to a sustainable investorready venture. The program culminates in students developing and pitching a viable, comprehensive plan for a new business venture. We also encourage to pursue University of Arizona engineering and business graduate programs focused on building strong entrepreneurship and leadership skills.

ARIZONA.EDU/APPLY AP, IB, and Dual Enrollment Credit The University of Arizona, College of Engineering accepts a wide variety of AP credit, higher-level IB credit, and dual-enrollment credit. After you have completed the course or exam, submit your test scores and/or community college transcripts to the Office of Admissions where they will be evaluated. The most common scores we accept for engineering course credit are a 4 or 5 on the following AP exams: Calculus AB & BC, Chemistry, and Physics C.

freedom to explore Designed for Success The College of Engineering believes in giving our students an exploratory experience in their first-year. To this end, all of our freshmen start as Engineering, No Major Selected. Combined with a common first year curriculum, you will have a chance to discover what each major in the College of Engineering has to offer. Our first-year design course, Engineering 102, is designed specifically to give you an interdisciplinary experience, build your academic foundations, and help you to find your passion for engineering. The class curriculum consists of a lecture and lab section. The lecture focuses on opportunities to find out where engineering can take you and how to make the most of your time at the University of Arizona. The lab section is designed to teach the basics of engineering design methodologies. Through various projects, you will develop skills that will last a lifetime.

Find Your Resources When you apply to the University of Arizona you will automatically be reviewed for the Arizona Excellence Award (merit-based tuition scholarships.) To cover any remaing costs (books, housing, meal plan, etc.), we encourage you to use Scholarship Universe, the University of Arizona online scholarship database. Additionally, students in the Mining Department are eligible to apply for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) scholarship. National Scholars are eligible to apply for the Thomas R. Brown Scholarship (additional $5000/yr).

Complete the online application for the University of Arizona and select your intended major in the College of Engineering. Submit official copies of transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. You will also need to submit an official high school transcript if you are under the age of 22. Pay the $50 (Arizona resident) or $65 (non-Arizona resident) processing fee or waiver. This fee is nonrefundable and non-transferrable.

enter the next phase Define Yourself as a Transfer Student To be considered a transfer student you need to be graduated from high school and enrolled at a college or university. Additionally, you will need to be enrolled in at least 12 transferrable units with at least 24 transferrable units completed by the start of your intended first semester at the University of Arizona. While earning an Associate’s Degree is a great addition to your resume, it is not required in order to apply for admission to the College of Engineering. We also encourage Arizona residents to complete their Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC). This will ensure that you are not wasting time or money because you will be taking classes that have been pre-approved and can transfer to the University of Arizona. If you have questions about the coursework you are currently taking, what engineering major you should pursue, or about whether the University of Arizona is the place for you, please contact us and we will advise you on how and when to transfer into the College of Engineering.

Evaluation Process The University of Arizona and the College of Engineering will perform a comprehensive review of all the materials you submit to the Office of Admissions. We will review your coursework, grades, work and leadership experience, and any other information you might provide in your application. However, the following items are required:
