It was a banner year for participation in events, including 440 events held in the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House, averaging out to 1.2 events per day with 9,611 people in attendance. The Alumni House also received improvements and renovations, including new carpet, totaling $139,283.

The Alumni Association also received a generous gift from the Hembree family – an 1846 piano. A rarity, it is one of four pianos made in Paris with a wooden harp. The piano now resides in the Underwood Library at the Alumni House.

Another highlight of the year included creating the Latino Alumni Society as the Association’s second special interest society. The Black Alumni Society, chartered in 1998, was the first. The University of Arkansas becomes the third Southeastern Conference school to have both societies, after the University of Florida and the University of Georgia.
