Burge’s continues to be a popular choice in The Heights neighborhood.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, BABY! CELEBRATING 20-PLUS YEARS OF FAMILIAR FACES IN LITTLE ROCK’S FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOODS

I

f the residents are the heart of a neighborhood, the businesses are the lifeblood. And when an establishment has been doing business for 20 years or more, you know they’ve found the key to longevity. A few of the faces behind these neighborhood staples tell us a bit about what it takes to keep a business running and why they consider it an honor to serve the individuals and families of the Heights, Hillcrest and Riverdale areas.

Let’s first look at the Heights:

Tipton & Hurst 1801 N. Grant (501) 666-3333 TiptonHurst.com erhaps no other florist in Arkansas has established itself as a household name quite like Tipton & Hurst. Family owned

P

10 HEIGHTS & HILLCREST • 2014

and operated since 1886, Tipton & Hurst has grown to offer its customers a variety of services from floral arrangements and gifts to planning holiday parties and design classes. The Heights store (and headquarters of T&H’s five locations) opened in the 1960s, but the Hurst family wasn’t new to the area. “We’ve been in the Heights a long time, but my family has lived here since the 1920s,” Howard Hurst, third generation owner, said. “What’s nice is that we grew up in the Heights and we’ve been a part of the fabric of the community for nearly a hundred years.” And it’s that same sense of community and taking care of your neighbor that weaves into the service that Tipton & Hurst gives to its customers, whom Hurst gives the credit for the business’ success. “The most important thing is having good customers,” he said. “But I think our focus is

customers and that’s what keeps us in business. Our motto is guaranteed satisfaction since 1886. It means we want to take care of you no matter what. That’s the philosophy my dad had and I assume that’s the philosophy of my grandfather. I’m just trying to follow in their footsteps.”

Smith’s Country Club Drug Store 5114 Kavanaugh Blvd. (501) 663-4118 SmithsCountryClubDrugStore.com he success of Smith’s Country Club Drug Store can be seen clearly in how busy the full-service pharmacy stays and how quickly its customers get in and out of the door —which also explains how the hometown pharmacy has been serving the Heights residents since 1927. Owner Pat Ingles said it all comes down to offering personalized

T

customer service. “Being right here in the area, a lot of people have been coming to the store for a long time,” Ingles said. “We have a lot of second- and third-generation customers in the Heights. It’s kind of its own community within the city, so everybody tends to stay right in the immediate area.” And, as any hometown pharmacy should, Smith’s prides itself on offering full-service pharmacy services from quick prescription refills and flu shots to specialized care for diabetic clients and, as has been the case for nearly 90 years, always plenty of helpful advice from the pros.

For more than 30 years, the Olinghouses have been bringing that insider information to all of Little Rock as the owners of the oldest (founded in 1948) and most loved children’s boutique, The Toggery. And quality is key at the Toggery, which is why the store aims to carry the most popular, well-made brands – from mom favorites Persnickety and Mustard Pie to kid favorites like Under Armour and Ralph Lauren. But the Toggery’s uniforms are where its quality really sets it apart. Uniforms for nearly every area school can be ordered through the Toggery and they are guaranteed to last the entire school year without a defect or flaw. It’s particularly gratifying.” It’s those relationships that last for generations that she loves so much about the Heights. “It’s the stories that connect us all,” Ricciardone said. “It’s the history and the legacy of the Heights.”

Mr. Wick’s 5924 R St. (501) 664-3062 MrWicks.com well-dressed man is timeless, and Mr. Wick’s has been dressing Little Rock men for nearly 55 years. Charles Carroll opened Mr. Wick’s in 1960, and now the store is in the hands of his son, Mark Carroll, who has seen fashion trends come and go. “You have to change with the times,” Carroll said. “We’re living in a more casual world now, and we have to adjust our inventory to reflect that. We’re still selling suits and sport coats, but over the last 10 years we’ve seen a strong desire for the younger generation to dress more casual.” But while the times and fashion may

A

change, some things should remain the same. “I think consistency with carrying quality merchandise and good service are probably the two most important things,” Mark Carroll said. As a second-generation Heights merchant, one of the things he appreciates the most is the loyalty of the neighborhood families. “I’ve met a lot of faces, and I’ve seen multiple generations,” Mark Carroll said. “Myself, I’m seeing third generations of families now. I’ve worked here 46 years and the greatest experience I’ve had has been the wonderful people we’re exposed to in this business.”

Golden opened Terry’s Finer Foods The Restaurant — the same quality customers had come to know at the market, now served up fresh at the table. But they kept the store relatively the same. Just as it has been for years. According to Jim “Bubba” Justice, manager of Terry’s Finer Foods, that’s just the way their customers want it. “Customers want us to be the same local, little independent grocer that we are,” Justice said. “We’re only one store. The customers know us and we know them. They support us and don’t want us to change, and we don’t want to change.”

Heather Zbinden, who currently co-owns the store with Cindy Hedges and Amy Sixbey, has memories of visiting the store with her grandmother.

“The art of needlepoint and knitting is passed down through generations,” Zbinden said. “And I think that’s really a special thing about this place. It’s a community of women coming together to do something they love. There was a need for that.” Much like the tradition of knitting, the Yarn Mart has become a tradition for Heights residents who want to pass on their crafting knowledge to their children and grandchildren. “It’s that tradition of people that have been shopping here for several generations and they appreciate what we have and the quality of the things we have,” Zbinden said. “The Heights is such a neat place. Locals as well as visitors to Arkansas come here to shop and you can have all kinds of different experiences. It’s a nice place to be.”

Tanglewood Drug Store 6815 Cantrell Road (501) 664-4444 TanglewoodDrug.com dam Wheeler had been an employee at Tanglewood Drug Store for years when he purchased the business in 2006. Continuing the same legacy of customer service he had learned from the previous owner, Wheeler aimed to continue the tradition of placing customer service at the forefront of his business. In 2014, Tanglewood Drug Store celebrated 50 years of serving the Heights neighborhood. “Three owners were at the anniversary party,” Wheeler said, “along with several customers that have been coming for generations.” This year’s celebration wouldn’t have been possible without the Heights and Hillcrest customers that are so devoted to neighborhood businesses, whom Wheeler mentioned are why he loves serving the area. “There’s a unique community here,” he said. “They’re pretty close knit and they like to patronize businesses here.”

But when she opened her third restaurant, and first location on Kavanaugh in the Heights, it must have been clear there was something to the thin crust she had been dishing out for the previous nine years. It was also the year she opened Hillcrest Liquor, and two years later,

the Hillcrest location would follow, sharing the building with the liquor store. Today, their website lists 10 restaurants owned and operated by US Pizza Co., with an additional four franchises around the state, including Fayetteville. The Hillcrest location moved to a nearby, renovated building on Kavanaugh, offering much more dining space, a game area for kids, a full-sized bar and a party room upstairs. The open kitchen plan that allows patrons to watch their pizza in the making, along with a crust that has changed little over the years (not to mention the Salad Supreme), is part of what has made US Pizza Co. more than just another neighborhood pizza joint. It’s THE neighborhood pizza joint.

Cheers in the Heights 2010 N. Van Buren (501) 663-5937 CheersITH.com heers has been a Heights institution for more than three decades, serving cold beer and juicy burgers to a regular neighborhood crowd. For roughly half of that time, Cheers in the Heights has been under the

ownership of local chef and restaurateur Chris Tanner and his wife, Samantha. The couple refocused the menu a bit, offering more upscale food including fresh fish and thick steaks, in addition to the more traditional sandwich and burger fare the place had been known for. And while they may have been around longer than the famous show of the ’80s that most people relate them to, the unspoken philosophy seems to be the same: a place where “everybody knows your name.”

The Diet Center 4910 Kavanaugh Blvd. (501) 663-9482 DietCenter.com/LittleRock-West or more than 30 years Heights and Hillcrest residents have been heading to The Diet Center when looking to drop a few pounds and live a healthier lifestyle. Frequently named as a local favorite, owner Kavion Wang credits the quality of the food and the hard work of her employees as just a piece of the secret to her success. “We get a lot of support,” Wang said. “There are a lot of chain restaurants and I

think we keep going because of the local people and their support.” Much of that support comes from the dayto-day customers she has built relationships with over the past 20 years. She said the people of the Heights are her favorite part of doing business in the area. “I can see these people everyday,” Wang said. “It’s a feeling of everybody knows everybody.”

Rhea Drug 2801 Kavanaugh Blvd. (501) 663-4131 Facebook.com/RheaDrug hea Drug is a bit like a step back in time — all the way back to 1922 when it opened. It’s a place where customers can browse through the gift shop, or maybe chat for a few minutes with the pharmacist, while their prescription is being filled. When they leave, their gift selections are complimentary gift-wrapped, just another touch of service from owner Joe Searcy and his staff. Owners Thomas Alford and Frank Cox, who bought the place in 2013, really aren’t sure themselves. They’re still searching public records for an opening date, but they know for sure Leo’s was a neighborhood staple at least as far back as the 1970s. Since the duo purchased Leo’s, they’ve aimed at keeping it close to the same as it’s been for decades, but while shaking things up just a little — like 75-cent Pabst Blue Ribbons, which has kept many of the regulars coming in despite the change in ownership, while also bringing in a newer generation of Leo’s customers. Buffalo Grill 1611 Rebsamen Park Road (501) 296-9535 BuffaloGrillLR.com Little Rock favorite, for years, fans of the Buffalo Grill were sad to see the location on Bowman Curve go in 2013, but took solace in knowing the Riverdale location wasn’t far away to visit. And, despite past talks of opening stores elsewhere, the store operators know their home is located in the heart of Riverdale. “We feel like the customers have learned to love the women here and trust them,” Dilday said. “We were really the first design store in this area and we kind of feel like we established this area as a design center. We like it here, and we feel centrally located to serve the region.”

Cajun’s was briefly owned by the Landry’s seafood chain in the late 1990s, but Mary Beth Ringgold, who had previously worked at Cajun’s for several years, and her restaurant group that already owned Caper’s in West Little Rock, stepped in to purchase the restaurant and restore the Cajun’s tradition. BRAND-NEW LOOK AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD NEW BUSINESSES SPRING UP IN PAST YEAR

he Heights, Hillcrest and Riverdale have seen an altered landscape of businesses, from new restaurants anchoring both ends of Kavanaugh in the Heights to a new fancy eatery at one end of Kavanaugh in Hillcrest, as well as new real estate offices, clothing stores, pet shops and pet grooming and more. Business owners such as restaurateur Jerry Barakat, who previously stayed well west of Midtown with his endeavors, have ventured into Hillcrest or the Heights. We take a look at all the new faces in the neighborhood, in case you haven’t already welcomed them.

hen you’re in the residential sales business, you get to know neighborhoods. So when the owners of Aspire Realty were choosing where to locate their company, the choice of address was clear. “Hillcrest is awesome,” co-owner Lisa Leggett said. “The building is distinct and has character, and being located on Kavanaugh our clients can find us easily. Since our agents serve all of the metro area, we needed a place that was centrally located. “Plus, we love the local neighborly feel here. Being able to walk to get coffee or lunch has been such a

The company deals in residential real estate properties throughout the Little Rock metropolitan area, using the talents and experience of 21 on-board realtors. “Our real estate agents are hand-picked, experienced agents that are dedicated to exceeding client expectations,” Lisa Leggett said. “After all, buying and selling a home is a very important event for our clients. to 32 pooches. She also stocks dog food and is the first retail outlet for Little Rock’s Monica’s K-9 Barkery gourmet treats. A bulletin board crammed with canine customer photos and co-owner Robby Grimes’ penchant for greeting customers with a smile and treat in hand tells you that. “We are owner operated and know our customers and their pets and consider them to be part of the Doggy Daddy family,” Grimes said. “We have a big focus on fun and provide a lot more than day-to-day essentials.” Grimes, his wife, Marie, his brother, Chris Grimes, and Chris’ wife, Donna, opened the neighborhood pet grocery and market in October 2013. The 1,400-square-foot store carries a wide range of natural and holistic dog and cat supplies, including food and treats, toys, collars, leashes, supplements and more. eather Smith epitomizes a familiar face in a new space. After launching nearby Eggshells, a cooking supply store for the discriminating home chef, she sold the company last year to move into the Domestic Domestic project on the strength of the relationships she formed during her time as a Heights merchant. “Occasionally, there is the need to mix it up a bit,” she said. “The Heights has always supported our retail endeavor with fierce loyalty, and this business is starting out no differently.” Domestic Domestic isn’t in the same product line as Eggshells — Smith describes the 1800-square-foot men’s clothing, shoes and accessories retail store as “a modern-day general store” — but it employs the same smart, hip vibe that made the cooking supply store such a success. “While the clothing we sell is men’s, our target demographic suits both men and women,” she said. “We offer awesome unisex t-shirts and the most unique assortment of goods in town. It is appealing to the conscientious consumer who loves quality and the story behind the goods.”

Plus, she said, the store’s emphasis on carrying exclusively American-made products and clothing further sets it apart. “Everyone wants to buy American products when given the choice,” she said. “We encourage everyone to come in and see for themselves.” Address: 5501 Kavanaugh Blvd, Suite C LR AR 72207 Phone: 501-661-1776 Email: hello@domesticdomestic.com Social media: www.domesticdomestic.com, facebook.com/domesticdomestic, twitter. com/shopdomestic, pinterest.com/shopdomestic, instagram.com/domesticdomestic Hours: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat., noon-4 p.m. Sun.

The 2,200-square-foot space also features a select number of other product lines and one-of-a-kinds hand-picked by the designer herself.

“Emporium Home Heights will bring a chic and refined edge to Little Rock,” Childers said. “It will be a go-to source for fabulous home furnishings, original art, unique gifts, design services and one-of-a-kind treasures from travels.” Childers’ products, previously available only through major trade markets such as Atlanta, Las Vegas and New York, have made her a designer in demand. Recipient of the Rising Star Award at the 25th annual Dallas Market Arts Awards, she describes her line as sophisticated and quietly glamorous in the medium- to upper-price point. “My products reflect designs with gracious living in mind, focusing on high-quality materials, handcraftsmanship, silhouette and proportion that’s refined without being too formal,” she said. Kemuri

pecializing in fresh seafood and some of the most creative sushi around, Kemuri opened in August on Kavanaugh in the Ice House Revival building and immediately established itself as one of the go-to places for sophisticated, interesting food. “We stand by our statement that our sushi is the best and most versatile in all of Little Rock, but Kemuri is not just for sushi lovers,” said longtime restaurateur and owner Jerry Barakat. “We’re a full-scale restaurant serving some of the most exciting and delicious dishes at a level you would expect to find in New York, Tokyo and L.A.” Critics agree; Arkansas Times called the food “spectacular on all levels” and said it easily compared to what one could expect to find in metropolitan areas, yet is as accessible as walking in Hillcrest. One distinguishing feature about Kemuri is robata, a traditional Japanese method of grilling over open coals that produces meats that are exceptionally tender and flavorful. Combine that with Chef Greg Wallis’ insistence on the freshest ingredients and the sushi mastery of Chef Alex from Kemuri’s West Little Rock sister restaurant, Ocean’s at Arthur’s, and you have the making of an unforgettable evening out. “Kemuri is taking dining in Little Rock to a new and unexplored level,” Bakarat said. “We specialize in providing guests the ultimate dining experience.” Address: 2601 Kavanaugh Blvd. Phone: 501-660-4100 Email: kemurirestaurant@gmail.com Website: http://kemurirestaurant.com/ Social media: https://www.facebook. c o m / p a g e s / Ke m u r i - s u s h i - s e a f o o d robata/564352380359315 https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008027329466 Hours: 4:30-9:30 p.m. Mon.-Thu., 4:30-11 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 4:30-9 p.m. Sun.; lunch hours (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) coming soon.

Le Pops

esidents of The Heights have a new option to satisfy a sweet tooth after dinner or on their weekend stroll through the neighborhood. Le Pops, a gourmet ice and cream popsicle store, opened in June offering a unique and healthier way to satisfy a sweet tooth. “Our clientele appreciates high-quality food choices,” said Laurie Harrison who co-owns the shop with her husband, Charles. “Our pops have no artificial colors or flavors and are handmade using ingredients of the highest quality, and one locally sourced whenever

possible. We also offer shaved ice made with real fruit syrups using no artificial flavors.” Selections range from simple, kid-friendly selections to more unique flavor combinations such as salted caramel, chocolate marvel, blackberry lavender, chai tea latte and raspberry basil, to name a few favorites. Seasonal selections are also brought into the rotation. Harrison said she chose The Heights neighborhood because it is walker-friendly and that foot traffic has steadily made Le Pops a required stop. “Heights residents like to walk and gather with friends,” she said. “During the school year, our shop is a place to come for afterschool treats and to hang out. Our customers also like to come in for dessert after dinner at the many restaurants in the neighborhood.” Address: 5501 Kavanaugh Blvd. Phone: 501-313-9558 Email: lepopslr@gmail.com Social media: @_lepops, facebook.com/ lepopsgourmetlollies Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Thu., 11 a.m.10 p.m. Fri.-Sat., noon-8 p.m. Sun. I love the local shops and restaurants.” Bohm added The Pantry Crest to that neighborhood restaurant roster in October, featuring what he calls “Rustic European” food in a lovingly restored old house just off Kavanaugh Boulevard. The Pantry Crest’s from-scratch recipes feature local products, organic whenever possible, so menu items change with the seasons. A full late-night menu is available through midnight Monday through Saturday, something increasingly hard to find in other restaurants. “DELICIOUS” Oishi means delicious in Japanese and that's just what the Chi family has brought to The Heights neighborhood. As the owners of several restaurant concepts such as the wildly popular Sushi Cafe, Chi's Asian Cafe in Riverdale, the original Chi's location in West Little Rock and more, they have completely revamped their offering once known as R.J. Tao. Oishi Hibachi and Thai Cuisine has taken over the space and brings another level of Asian dining to the area - specifically with its Japanese hibachi-style cooking and Thai offerings. PARKS A CRUCIAL PART OF QUALITY OF LIFE T

hroughout Little Rock, parks are a big part of citizens’ lives. This is particularly true in the Midtown neighborhoods of the Heights and Hillcrest where parks and park-like public spaces lend the charm and ambiance for which the neighborhoods are known. “I’ve heard somebody say, ‘Where we learn matters,’ meaning we learn by what we see around us,” said Mark Webre, deputy director of operations for the Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department. “If we see good things, we work toward good things. The reverse of that, of course, is if you don’t take care of things and things start to deteriorate — if you act like you don’t care — then people learn not to care.” For Midtown neighborhoods, that care for green spaces has been on ready display, beginning with War Memorial Park, the southern boundary of Hillcrest along Markham Street. This emerald anchor — home to War Memorial Stadium and golf course, Little Rock Zoo, Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center and Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library with its attendant native garden — has recently enjoyed a number of improvements. “Our master plan is the roadmap that

guides us,” Webre said. “It was developed by three public meetings between 2007 and 2009 with 100 or so folks attending those meetings. They said we needed more recreation opportunities, more trails and more chances to throw the Frisbee, play catch or play an impromptu game of volleyball. Nothing too formal, just some more open space.” Among the changes are new pathways, a splash pad and reconfiguring areas of the park to improve access, provide open space and help with traffic flow. New landscaping, seating and sculpture now also create a beautiful new statement at the park’s main entrance at West Markham Street and Fair Park Boulevard. Improvements on tap for the coming year include replacing the existing hackberry trees along Markham Street with Chinese Pistache, a smaller specimen that is also on display along the stretch of Kavanaugh Boulevard that runs through the heart of the Heights. The new trees are shorter and thereby can grow under existing power lines without the extensive pruning — some might say butchering — required of the hackberry trees. Webre said tree replacement should start around February and, by summer, restora-

tion of Coleman Creek will be in full swing. The plan there is to change the tributary from looking like a glorified drainage ditch and return it to a more natural state. “We’re doing some things that are designed to maintain a beautiful streamside corridor. It will create a wonderful aquatic and terrestrial habitat,” he said. “It’s going to look like what Mother Nature intended for it to begin with.” As impressive as War Memorial Park has become, it is only one part of a much larger network of green spaces that mark the Hillcrest and Heights neighborhoods. Small, almost “secret” parks like tiny Prospect Terrace at 5420 L St. provide a refreshing splash of green and tucked-away hiking trails such as Allsopp Park’s mile-long North Ravine at the bottom Cantrell Hill provide for residents’ enjoyment while blending in perfectly with the overall landscape. Webre said that where some cities still subscribe to a school of urban planning thought that produces parks all looking pretty much the same — big, flat with a swing set and picnic tables — Little Rock’s philosophy has taken a decidedly nonconventional approach. Parks don’t have to look exactly like each other, nor do they have to hammer all of the natural out of nature to be enjoyed. “The demands for accessibility and just physical limitations do get pretty hard on the environment,” he said. “What we are always trying to do is lighten it up to where we’re not trying to push nature around. One word I’ve seen used for this is ‘biomimicry’; you look at nature and you can see it’s already figured out how everything works and that it works well. What we need to do is figure out how to copy it.” Webre said this philosophy has yielded parks and park-like developments all over the city with their own flavor while still being

a consistent part of the overall design. In this way, parks with playgrounds and dog runs remain connected by the same ethos as parks that exist as specimens of an ecosystem in its most unadulterated state. “One of my proudest moments was when we worked with the county to develop Two Rivers Park and we made the decision to make that a conservation park,” Webre said. “Boy, that was way outside the traditional way of building parks, but now we can’t keep people out of there. All walks of life and all demographics are coming out and enjoying pretty much a raw piece of land and experiencing it for what it is. “You don’t see that everywhere, it’s very unique and its very attributable to the kind of environment we here in Little Rock get to experience and enjoy.”  ♦

When it comes to dining options, the Heights, Hillcrest and Riverdale have plenty to please: pizza, Mexican, all-American, Japanese and much more. There are also many great dining options in the nearby Midtown neighborhood. Here is a partial list of what you might find when you’re looking for somewhere to eat in these parts of the capital city.

The food focus is on high-end items that pair well with wine: olives, hummus, cheese, bread, and some meats and sausages. 5713 Kavanaugh Blvd. 663-9463 CHEERS IN THE HEIGHTS Good burgers and sandwiches, vegetarian offerings, fish specials and good steaks in the evening. 2010 N. Van Buren St. 663-5937 SCALLIONS This is a great lunch spot, good food, great desserts and a pleasant atmosphere. 5110 Kavanaugh Blvd. 666-6468

OISHI HIBACHI AND THAI CUISINE

Veteran Little Rock restaurateur Lulu Chi’s newest creation, Oishi Hibachi & Thai Cuisine, opened in August and diners have been delighted ever since by the pan-Asian cuisine and creative sushi dishes. Even though the owners also operate Sushi Cafe right down the street, Oishi fits in along Kavanaugh Boulevard nicely as the only Japanese teppanyaki restaurant for miles. Oishi’s dining room — not unlike its menu — is split down the middle with half the house featuring hibachi-grilled items that are familiar to many diners. On the other is an Asian-fusion menu primarily focused on Thai cuisine and featuring Japanese, Chinese and even Korean influences, creating dishes that are unique to Central Arkansas. The space offers new decorative touches over previous restaurants that occupied the space, and renovations also created a cozy enclosed patio for year-round dining. Another distinctive feature is the ventilation system installed in each hibachi table that handles the smoke from the sizzling flat grills, a system so advanced it is in use in less than a dozen restaurants in the country. Oishi Hibachi & Thai Cuisine is open daily for lunch and dinner in the Heights. A full bar and carry out is also available. Oishi Hibachi & Thai Cuisine Address: 5501 Kavanaugh Blvd. Phone: 501-603-0080 Social media: www.facebook.com/ pages/Oishi-Hibachi-Thai-Cuisine/ Hours: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-10 p.m. daily

DAMGOODE PIES The tiny original still stands in the middle of the busy Hillcrest shops. Good bread, too. 2701 Kavanaugh Blvd. 664-2239

BIG ORANGE Gourmet burgers, hand-cut fries and chips, and delicious shakes. Other items include salads, cheese dip and more. Fabulous bar too where the drink doctors conjure up amazing concoctions. 207 N. University Ave., Suite 100 379-8715

Many things have changed since 1964. We’re living longer, aging gracefully, expecting more. And we’ve gone from rotary dial to texting. Presbyterian Village has evolved with the times in all aspects except one: We still offer the best care in the state for independent living, residential care and around the clock healthcare. As the premiere residential provider, we’re still answering the call, because sometimes it takes a Presbyterian Village.
