Sleeping NEVER FELT
SO GOOD!
SAY GOODBYE TO SNORING! Whether you’re the one doing it or the one who has to listen to it all night, snoring can interfere with the restful sleep that’s so important for optimal health and wellness. It may even be a sign of a more serious problem: sleep apnea. If left untreated, this sleep-related breathing disorder can cause daytime exhaustion, headaches, memory loss and even affect your heart. If you are a chronic snorer or have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, a custom-made oral appliance from Dr. Sandi Hamm’s dental office may be all you need to finally get a good night’s rest. Contact Dr. Sandi Hamm at 817-477-4441 to schedule a FREE consultation!

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1THESSALONIANS 5: 16-18 How can it possibly be July already? This summer seems to be flying by. I hope you’ve found some time to unwind and enjoy your family and friends and our beautiful part of the country. We’re blessed to live in an area where there are so many fun family activities from golf to boating to backyard barbequing and so much more. For us summertime has been about squeezing in as much time with the grandkids as we can.

July is National Park and Recreation Month, promoting the efforts of work park and recreation departments across the country. We have a lot to celebrate in Mansfield when it comes to parks and recreation. Twice our parks system received the Gold Medal as the best in the state. When residents here list what they love about our city, inevitably parks and recreation ranks close to the top.

So this month, please send your thanks to our department staff and the park board by hitting the Chandler Park splash pad or walking your dog on the linear trail.
Mansfield has 900-plus acres of parkland and more than 100 athletic fields. The Walnut Creek Linear Trail is considered one of the best trail systems in the region. Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park and its nature education programs are drawing not only residents

Arlington folks are some of the most generous people on the planet. Time and time again, I’ve been proud and humbled to witness our citizens giving selflessly of themselves to those in need. North Texas Giving Day is always one of those times. Last year, citizens of The American Dream City joined forces with others across Tarrant County to raise $48 million ($240 million over the past ten years) making it the largest giving day in the nation. In fact, since 2015, funds raised here in Arlington have grown from $500,000 annually to almost $1.6 million. Amazing! Many of the same local nonprofits are already registered for this year’s Giving Day, which is scheduled for September 19th. In case you don’t know, North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online event designed to build awareness for nonprofits and

H
ave you ever been faced with life altering, defining moments when you felt as though you were drowning in the treacherous waters of life and you desperately needed to hear the voice of God? Have you experienced a moment in time when your soul was so shattered and broken you felt there was no way you could ever be whole again? Can you recall any times you have felt ashamed, unworthy, unlovable, and just not okay? I do not know what storms you are being faced with in life, but what I do know is this. Whether deep within a valley or on a spiritual high, we are all broken, we are all on a healing journey, and we are all in desperate need of Jesus. We need to come to a place where we are okay with not being okay. This doesn’t mean you are weak, less than, or that you don’t have a strong relationship with the Lord. What it means is that you are human and there are days the wind gets knocked out of you and you fall to your knees in desperation, like we all do. If you didn’t struggle, you wouldn’t be you. David, Jesus, and all the heroes and heroines of the Bible struggled and cried out to God when they were overwhelmed with sadness and anguish. It’s okay to be broken, it’s okay to cry out to God when you feel He is not near or answering your prayers, and it’s okay not to be okay. But it’s in those days that we are not okay that we need to choose to have joy in the Lord, not happiness, because there are many days we do not come into alignment with happiness, but we choose joy in the Lord because we know there is an indescribable hope that can only be found in Him. His word, His truths, and His promises bring healing and restoration to our broken souls. As we inhale in His faithfulness, we are able to soar high on His wings as we breathe in His healing and purifying shalom peace. His word promises He will never leave us or forsake us. It might not look the way you wanted it to, and it may not have happened in your time frame, but He always shows up. Sometimes it’s hard to keep the faith and endure the storms. But He commands us in Scripture to praise Him in and through all things. Even when it hurts, we praise Him. Even when we are blinded by our circumstances, we praise Him. Even when we feel we are drowning or in a fierce fire, we praise Him. Why? Because when we praise Him our eyes stop focusing on ourselves and become fixed on Him. It shifts our focus from defeat to glory. He is an all consuming loving God who hears the deep cries from the cellars of our souls and He disperses His angels time and time again, reminding us of who we are and who He has called us to be. He continuously shines His majestic light upon the darkest areas of our journey, guiding and reminding us that nothing is impossible through Christ Jesus. I encourage you today, no matter where you are in your journey, to allow Him to embrace you, hold you, and lavish you with His undeniable love. Allow Him to take you deeper and to restore what has been scarred and broken inside. I have had my walls up, I have shut Him out during devastating seasons—but I have also welcomed Him in so I could experience unity and freedom in Him. Once you have that encounter, that transforming moment where He meets you and pours His anointed, supernatural, unfailing love into your soul, you will stand in awe and in reverence of just how magnificent He is. It’s simply blissful.

Originally opening her practice as Mansfield Dermatology in 2007, Dr. Hoang had a clear vision for her practice—individualized care with an emphasis on patient education and empowerment. NEWS TECHNOLOGIES AND TREATMENTS Laser Hair Removal
Non-surgical Facelift
SplendorX is the newest laser treatment offering powerful and fast hair removal. SplendorX can treat a full back in just three minutes and perform a full body treatment in an astounding 20 minutes—compared to traditional laser hair removal, which can take up to an hour. Its patented technology enables targeted and uniform coverage that can be adjusted to fit the needs and skin types of each patient. It also includes two forms of cooling during the procedure, making the treatment pain-free and comfortable. SplendorX is generally suitable for all skin tones–including dark or tanned skin–and for all body areas and hair types. In addition to permanent hair removal, it can also be used to treat wrinkles, warts, pigmentation, razor bumps, and more.
The Vampire Facelift uses the patient’s own growth factors to offer a non-surgical way to restore facial shape that may change with aging, improve tone and texture, and rejuvenate new and younger tissue. The procedure uses hyaluronic acid fillers to boost the shape of the face, which tends to droop with age. It then uses growth factors extracted from the patient’s own blood to activate generation of new tissue, creating a smooth texture and increasing blood flow to produce a youthful, healthy glow. The Vampire Facelift technology can also be used in other areas of the body. Growth factors may be injected to help with hair regrowth, erectile dysfunction, sexual function and urinary incontinence. United Dermatology’s practice includes two Providers certified and trained in Vampire Facelifts, Brian Cook, PA-C and Lisa Moody, PA-C. They are among only a handful of providers in the country who have trained under Dr. Charles Runels who pioneered the treatment.
Non-surgical Skin Rejuvenation Fractional CO2 is one of the latest advances in non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments, providing effective skin resurfacing to produce smoother, even-toned, younger looking skin. Fractional CO2 lasers stimulate the skin to produce collagen, creating improved texture, tightening, decreased appearance of pores, softening of wrinkles and improved sun damage. It also can treat precancerous growths, blotchiness, acne scars and discoloration, and surgical scars. It’s suited to treat delicate areas like eyelids and the skin around the mouth, as well larger areas including the neck, chest, arms and legs. The Fractional CO2 laser at United Dermatology also has a handpiece for vaginal rejuvenation. It inserts into the vaginal canal and stimulates collagen growth which produces a tightening effect to the tissue. This improves sexual function and helps with urinary incontinence that may occur with age as the tissue becomes lax or as a result of childbirth.
Electromagnetic Muscle Toning Emsculpt is a non-invasive method using electromagnetic energy to build and sculpt muscle and burn fat. This extraordinary FDA-approved technology can be used on the abdomen, buttocks, arms, thighs, and calves. With Emsculpt, patients can achieve a lean, toned physique beyond what they may be able to achieve on their own through a healthy diet and exercise. The high intensity, focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy contracts muscles quickly and painlessly, burning body fat and building muscle mass by more than 15%. One half-hour treatment can produce effects similar to doing 20,000 crunches or squats. Most patients achieve results after just four sessions, with no downtime.

EQUIPS UV KNOWLEDGE EVERYONE SHOULD BE ARMED WITH BY DAVID BUICE AND STEPHANIE A. SAVORY, MD
S Summer has long since overtaken us here in the Lone Star State. For many, that means enjoying plenty of outdoor activities while basking in the warmth coming from our very own 6-billionyear-old star, happily situated 93 million miles from earth. Despite our friendly relationship, summer fun in the sun comes with the risk of some possible health hazards due to intense ultraviolet rays.

to wait until you’re sick or need a new prescription to see your doctor. After all, if you feel fine, why bother with a doctor visit?
RIGHT ON TIME
H E A LT H Y AT H O M E
WHAT CAN YOU DO AT HOME TO TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH? It’s not as hard as you think. Little things can grow into big benefits. No matter the obstacles that have blocked the way in the past, step over them now with these little health tips: MAKE SLEEP A PRIORITY. Some people need nine hours of sleep, some need only six. However many hours you need, commit to getting them now. Ensure that it’s uninterrupted and that your room is dark and has an ambient temperature that’s comfortable for you. MOVE YOURSELF.
PAYING A VISIT TO YOUR DOCTOR, even when you feel fine, is an investment in your health that can pay of f big div idends in the future. You probably take your children or your pets to see a health care provider on a regular basis, even when they’re well. Shouldn’t you do the same for yourself? Consider caring for yourself like you do these other members of your family by scheduling at least a onceper-year check-up. You deserve it—and the many benefits that go along with it. YOU’LL DEVELOP A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR DOCTOR. Relationships take time to build. Consistent visits give your relationship a space to grow. Your doctor will gain knowledge about you as an individual. Likewise, as you get to know him or her better, it will be easier for you to talk about troubling or embarrassing concerns. YOU ’ LL STAY UP TO DATE . You can keep current on lab tests, vaccines (like the flu shot), and important vital statistics, such
as cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Regular visits help bu i ld you r c u r rent med ic a l record, something you’ll definitely want if you ever end up in an emergency room. EARLY INTERVENTION IN CASE OF A PROBLEM. Regular visits make it easier for your doctor to identify potential issues before they get out of hand. Treatments are far more effective for certain health issues if started in early stages. YOU ’ L L H AV E AC CES S T O NE W MED I C AT I O NS . By seeing you regularly, your doctor can better evaluate your medications and discuss tweaking your treatment plan. New drugs often have fewer side effects or work via different physiological pathways, making them more effective. REMEMBER , YOU DESERV E THE SAME LEVEL OF CARE YOU GIVE TO THOSE YOU LOVE. Taking care of your own health is just another way you can love them. Get up and go for it—a healthier, happier, longer life.
This doesn’t mean you have to run three miles a day or do an hour of interval training every day (although that’s not a bad thing). It means set a timer and move your body for 15 minutes. Take a brisk walk alone or with someone else. Walk up and down the stairs of your home until the timer goes off. Fifteen minutes of movement a day. MANAGE STRESS. Stress visits everyone. It’s how we handle it that counts. Whether you happen to be feeling stressed or not, take five minutes every couple of hours to close your eyes, sit in a quiet place, and rid your mind of all the thoughts and distractions that try to push their way in. GET INVOLVED. Like most other people, you’re busy with family, work, and other necessary obligations. But take some time for yourself once a week, twice a month—whatever works for you—to get involved with something in your community. It can be as noble as volunteering for a charity or as casual as getting together with people for a card game or common hobby. Four little things that can make a big difference in your overall health and wellbeing. Go for it!

RESURGENCE WELLNESS RETHINKING THE PATIENT/ PRACTITIONER RELATIONSHIP
TREATING THE PATIENT— NOT THE ILLNESS BY MEREDITH KNIGHT
There was a time, in the not too distant past, when men, women, and children saw their healthcare practitioner only when they were sick or injured. Thankfully innovative care providers have initiated a full 180 on that model beginning with the questions, “How can we partner with our patients, empowering them to be their own best wellness advocates?” The idea was not so much to react when a patient’s health goes south, but to work proactively to keep them at pique health to begin with—and to do so in partnership with the patient. Resurgence Wellness was founded on that patient empowerment model, with patient and provider embarking on a journey together toward optimum health and wellness—at any age. Resurgence Wellness treatments are safe and non-invasive with the goal of discovering the root cause of any health issues, resolving health concerns, and initiating or restoring vitality, so patients can own the day—every day.
INDIVIDUALIZED CARE Whether you’re seeking to lose weight, stabilize your hormone levels, improve your sex life, or boost your immune system, Resurgence Wellness medical professionals begin by creating an individualized treatment plan to enhance your body’s capacity to heal itself. They’re dedicated to helping people make big life transformations in order to live a vital life and get back to owning each day.
PATIENT EMPOWERMENT Resurgence Wellness medical professionals are experienced in not only treating a variety of debilitating symptoms, but also finding the underlying cause. They believe in taking time listening to patients, so they leave feeling confident they made the right choice. Their goal is always to treat and pre-

Before finding the cause of your health concerns and creating your customized wellness plan, they take time to discuss any symptoms, your medical h and your current lifestyle habits so you can play a vital role in your new healthy lifestyle.
TREATING THE PATIENT—NOT THE ILLNESS Resurgence Wellness medical professionals looks at each patient as a whole— physically, environmentally, spiritually, nutritionally, emotionally, socially and in other ways and considers the ways the different systems of the body relate to one another. Modern medicine has become very specialized—with specialists for each part of the body who aren’t necessarily communicating with one another. Resurgence Wellness medical professionals considers the way an issue with the heart (for instance) relates to a hormone imbalance
or how stress is affecting the digestive system. They believe modern pharmaceuticals can be a wonderful thing, but they should be considered as a last resort, not the first or only choice.
PERSONALIZED CARE Resurgence Wellness medical professionals realize that what patients want more than anything is someone who will listen—really slow down, take the time, and hear what they have to say. Three different patients might present with the same symptoms, but they can have them for three very different reasons. The only way they can discover what’s causing each patient’s problem is to find out about their day-to-day life, their stresses, their diet, their activity level, their family history, and their medical history. And the only way they can ascertain that information is to slow down and get to know each patient. That’s exactly what they do.
MEET FOUNDER CHRISTOPHER CHAPPELL A former Auburn University linebacker, Christopher suffered a career-ending knee injury. It was during his rehabilitation that he began visualizing the next level of healthcare. He obtained his nursing degree, worked in surgery and the ER and eventually opened Resurgence Wellness with the idea of addressing each patient’s lifestyle to change their life. Christopher was joined by Drs. Matthew Cerniglia, Brook Hall, and Rick Westbrook, as well as Nurses Jake Sanchez, Savannah Houston, and Teresa Scott. Together they provide concierge wellness care that caters to the patient who are looking for better overall health, more time with their primary care provider and no waiting or rushed appointments. They even make house and office calls.

YOUR FACE FDA-cleared Ultherapy, touted as a “nonsurgical face lift,” turns back the clock with ultrasound energy. It heats targeted tissue under the surface of your skin, triggering collagen and elastin production which lifts the skin and reduces wrinkles and lines. You may see some initial effects right after your Ultherapy treatment, but optimal results usually take place over two to three months as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Many people only need one Ultherapy treatment to enjoy results.
YOUR SMILE Ready to flash those pearly whites without the hassle and mess of take-home whitening trays? Laser teeth whitening at your dentist’s office is an easy and effective alternative. You may see a dramatic difference in your teeth—sometimes up to 10 shades whiter—after just one 30-minute laser whitening appointment. And optimal whitening can come about after two or three treatments.
YOUR BODY An array of advanced technologies make it easier than ever to reduce stubborn fat pockets and improve your body contours without going under the knife. For example, CoolSculpting destroys fat cells by freezing them with no damage to the skin or underlying tissue. SculpSure, a fat-melting laser treatment, is so comfortable it usually doesn’t require a topical numbing anesthetic. Another technology, TruSculpt iD, targets fat with ultrasound energy, with continued fat reductions seen for around 12 weeks post-treatment.
YOUR SKIN Longing for a deep, radiant dermal glow that exudes good health and youth? BBL Forever Young broadband light treatments provide visible complexion improvements to the top layers of skin as well as working below in the dermis. A Stanford University study showed that BBL Forever Young not only makes skin look younger, it actually promotes youthful skin on a molecular level.
YOUR HANDS Are the veins on the back of your hands becoming more prominent as each year passes? Now you can rejuvenate aging hands with dermal filler injections. Radiesse—which claims to be the first and only filler deemed safe and effective by the FDA to correct lost volume in hands—can create smooth, natural-looking results and continues to work over time by stimulating the natural production of collagen. The treatment has been clinically proven to last a year or more for many people. With these and so many other options available, now is a great time to consult your plastic surgeon, dermatologist, or med spa professional to determine what plan of treatment will best meet your goals.

WHAT IS EXCESSIVE SWEATING?
S
Medically called “primary focal hyperhidrosis,” excessive sweating is when the body sweats without cause. Imagine an “on/off’ switch for sweat glands stuck in the “on” position. This condition affects 1 to 2 percent of the population and often runs in families. The most commonly affected areas include the armpits, palms, and soles.

HOW DO WE TREAT SWEATING?

Fortunately, there are treatments for those who suffer from excessive sweating, or who may want to simply diminish normal sweating. Antiperspirants are an effective way to address more mild degrees of sweating. They work by plugging the sweat gland. Your doctor (usually a dermatologist) can prescribe stronger antiperspirants than those available over the counter.
Sweating is a normal
weather, exercise, or embarrassment, your brain responds by activating millions of sweat glands spread over your body. Sweat drips out of the pores, and the evaporation of the sweat cools the body.
If you prefer not to use an antiperspirant, there are several alternatives, such as prescription oral and topical medications that decrease your ability to sweat, iontophoresis (which uses low-intensity electrical currents and is often initially effective), and Botox, which can completely inactivate sweat glands and is used on the scalp, armpits, hands, and feet. For those that suffer from armpit sweating, miraDry is a noninvasive procedure that permanently deactivates most of the sweat glands in the armpits. This treatment results in an immediate reduction in sweating and odor, and most patients require only one treatment. There are also surgical options, though they may result in the development of compensatory sweating in other regions, and caution is recommended.
WHEN SHOULD YOU SEE A DOCTOR? As already mentioned, decreasing sweating is a lifestyle choice for most of us. However, excessive sweating that starts after puberty or affects the whole body may be due to a medical cause. New-onset excessive sweating requires a medical work up to diagnose and treat or manage the underlying medical condition.

QUIZ IT’S TIME FOR SCHOOL TOURS— AND HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ASKING BY MIMI GREENWOOD KNIGHT
O
OF ALL THE DECISIONS YOU’LL MAKE on behalf of your child, what school they’ll attend is probably near the top of the list. If your family is currently searching for the perfect fit, a boots-on-the-ground visit is in order to ascertain aspects such as a school’s climate, teaching dynamic, engagement level of the students, and quality of communication and respect between students, teachers, administrators, and parents. Begin by reading what you can about potential schools online, and talk to other parents. Then contact each school on your list and schedule a tour. There are a few questions you should probably ask.

ig Sky is a natural outdoor
playground for all ages, from thrill seekers to families with young kids who want to unplug and get away from it all. The draw to Big Sky in wintertime is downhill skiing, but I visited in late spring and horseback riding was at the top of my activity list. Admittedly, the last time I climbed onto a horse was in grade school during a family vacation in Colorado. My horse, Rusty—I remember his name to this day—decided to leave the trail and take off on his own at a good trot. Scared to death, I held on for dear life until the guide came to my rescue. After avoiding horses for decades, I figured it was high time to get over my fear. The trail rides at Jake’s Horses range from an hour to a full day. I scheduled a three-hour ride and it couldn’t have been more enjoyable. My anxiety evaporated when I learned several in our group hadn’t ridden in years either, and the great people at Jake’s paired each of us with the perfect horse for our size and riding ability. As we clip-clopped along the trail in the fresh mountain air, our guide shared a wealth of knowledge about Montana history and the life cycle of the plants and wildlife in the surrounding area. Riding through meadows and pine forests, and up and down rocky trails with breathtaking views at almost every turn, I couldn’t help but think about the settlers who first laid eyes on this majestic land, and the joys and hardships they shared. Arriving back at Jake’s safe, sound,

ADVENTURE
BIG SKY IS LOCATED 50 MILES SOUTH OF BOZEMAN ON THE NORTHWESTERN EDGE OF YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
and sans saddle sores, I returned to the rustic luxury of my hotel to enjoy a pampering high altitude hydrating facial and beehive honey wrap at the Solace Spa. Unlike some outdoorsy destinations, Big Sky is replete with upscale hotels as well as extravagant home rentals that accommodate large families and groups of friends.
Teed up for the second day was an afternoon of golf, but first I wanted to get a bird’s eye view of the area from Montana’s highest scenic overlook at 11,166 feet. Getting there meant taking the Swift Current Scenic Chair Lift up to the halfway point on Lone Mountain. A number of families with youngsters were riding the lift, too, and taking the aerial tram with me to Lone Peak. Standing at the summit on a crystal-clear day, the panorama stretched over three states, two national parks, and many mountain ranges. Peering through the binoculars provided by the tour, I marveled at the vast expanse before me, feeling small and humbled by the glory of this beautiful planet we inhabit. An afternoon on Big Sky Resort’s award-winning 18-hole par 72 golf course was a great way to spend the rest of a sunny day. The Arnold Palmer-designed course, which sits 6,500 feet above sea level, offers long drives and spectacular views. After a decent game I decided to eat at chefowned Olive B’s Big Sky Bistro and ordered the French onion soup. Maybe it was because I was totally famished, but the bubbling cheese-covered crock of goodness ranked up there with some of the best I’ve had in my global travels. Saving the best for last, I splurged on a private full-day tour of Yellowstone with Scenic Tours for my third and final day in Big Sky. With only a day to see this family-favorite National Park, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. My knowledgeable guide knew how to avoid the crowds and traffic, taking me to the best vantage points to see the attractions, often going off the beaten path. All I had to do was relax and drink in the dramatic and sometimes strange beauty of Yellowstone. It was a truly unforgettable day. Dinner that evening was at the family-owned Cabin Bar & Grill, which features many locally-sourced ingredients. After indulging in the house-ground bison meatballs with pomegranate molasses barbecue sauce as an appetizer, I enjoyed a delightfully light entrée of pan-seared Yellowstone River rainbow trout. (A family-oriented restaurant, the Cabin also offers standard fare and a menu for children 12 and under.) As I savored every bite, I mentally compared the Montana skies to those of Texas. Was one truly bigger? Maybe not in the exact physical sense, but the majesty of Montana’s countryside set against the wild blue yonder makes it a special place, and one that has rightly earned the moniker of Big Sky Country.

FEATURE IF YOU’RE TRYING TO JUGGLE YOUR FITNESS ROUTINE WITH FAMILIAL QUALIT Y TIME, CONSIDER FINDING WAYS TO STAY FIT AND HEALTHY AS A FAMILY. BESIDES THE OBVIOUS THRILL OF MULTITASKING, YOU’LL ALSO BE ENCOURAGING YOUR CHILDREN TO MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES THAT CAN BENEFIT THEM FOR LIFE.
THE FAMILY IS ALL IN MAKING PHYSICAL FITNESS A TIME FOR TOGETHERNESS
GO FOR THE GOLD! Plan an ongoing family Olympics with silly games and activities. Some suggestions for events include:
KEEP IT CLASSY! Take up a new activity as a family. It doesn’t matter if it’s a martial art, yoga, swimming, or clog dancing, the idea is to find something everyone will enjoy. Many community centers and gyms offer family fitness classes. IT’S ALL FUN AND GAMES Remember the goal is fitness, not cutthroat competition. You want your children to get healthy, not require therapy as adults. With that in mind, plan some backyard games, such as badminton, volleyball, whiffle ball, kickball, or even just a good ol’ family game of tag.

Frisbee Golf
•
Bean Bag Toss
•
Hula Hoop Contest
•

Keep the games small or open them up to your friends and neighbors. You can even plan opening and closing ceremonies. ON A ROLL Biking, skateboarding, and rollerblading are great ways to keep family exercise fun. Head to a skate park or plan destination bike rides, such as a playground. Don’t forget the helmets! children, you can have fun acting out fairy tales, such as “The Tortoise and the Hare” or “The Gingerbread Man.” Anything that gets you up and moving is fair game. WALK THIS WAY Schedule time for regular family walks. You may opt for Saturday morning or after dinner. You can walk around your neighborhood or head off to a local park. Keep track of miles walked and schedule rewards for milestones hit. Rewards don’t have to be big. One idea is to go to the store and select a fruit or vegetable you’ve never tried for every fifty miles walked. Remember, the idea is to keep it healthy. GROW WITH THE FLOW A recent study showed that gardening is just as effective as going to the gym when it comes to certain long-term health benefits. Gardening is linked to everything from decreased depression and body mass index to increased life satisfaction and sense of community. Benefits were noticed after only 10 to 59 minutes of gardening per week. Consider planting a small vegetable garden as a family activity. If space is limited, you can even try container gardening.
