Each piece of Arlo & Jacob furniture is made by one pair of capable hands in the East Midlands. That’s where we craft bespoke pieces made to last a lifetime, because quality never goes out of style.

Our Clara design is a real winner thanks to its ultra-modern silhouette. It’s got a wonderfully boxy outer shell with a soft and sumptuous interior. Amplify its corners and curves in all their glory with a shimmery velvet which picks up the light at every turn. It works wonderfully suspended above the ground on long and lean legs. We’ve steered clear of any ornamentation on this one, choosing instead to let the form speak for itself. The result, we think, is striking from every angle!

Our East Midlands workshop is at the heart of what we do. It’s brimming with a tremendously talented team of makers who bring your creations to life with precision and patience. One such character is Steve, who brings 40 years of experience to his craft. We connected with him to offer a bit of insight into how your furniture takes shape.
Q: What’s the key factor in crafting a top-notch sofa?
A: It all starts with the quality of materials. We use the finest timber, along with a specially formulated combination of cushion fills, topped off by high-end fabrics. It’s a pleasure to work with the right tools, and it really does make all the difference.
Q: What’s the most important part of a sofa?
A: Without a doubt it’s got to be the frame. We use sustainably sourced timber to make ours, which is super strong. Between the team, we’ve got countless years of experience, which add up to an exceptional level of know-how. That’s why we’re confident enough in our work to guarantee every sofa frame for life!
Q: What’s the best part of your job?
A: The Arlo family! We are a true family business at the core, and that definitely trickles down throughout the workshop. We all come from different backgrounds, professionally and personally, and it’s a privilege to be able to call on others for specialised support and fresh perspectives. I think that’s what gives our creations such a sense of character and quality!
A Place to Perch
Playing with scale and form is key to creating a dynamic interior, which will also perform well on functionality. A proper sofa makes the perfect base to build from, adding smaller seats to create a convivial ambiance. We always recommend having fun with smaller pieces of furniture, opting for sculptural designs like the Vesper cocktail chair to inject a playful spirit. Standalone occasional chairs make a splash, while our armchair options are often part of larger collections, so can be used in tandem with a matching sofa and footstool to create a cohesive look.

Scandinavian style has proven its staying power over the years. We’ve drawn upon the region’s design icons to create furniture with substance and soul, which delivers a clean look. Our Henry armchair exemplifies the wonders which can come from a marriage of Scandinavian aesthetic and British craft. It’s got a relaxed feel which invites many happy hours of relaxation. Sofia is another Scandiinflected winner, which comes in a fixed or rocker format to add a dash of dynamism.

Many of our creations have a crisp and contemporary character, stemming from their sleek, rectilinear forms. Dress them in clean white cotton or linen fabrics to heighten the effect, or go for an energetic pattern to create a pop of intrigue. A Love Seat is the perfect place to cosy up with your nearest and dearest. The compact footprint gives it a pleasantly snug feel, and works wonders in smaller spaces. The Leon design brings a small but mighty hit of mid-century flavour to its environment. If you’re looking for a more plush and pillowy option, be sure to give our Cartwright a glance. Our range of fabrics is drawn from the confluence of art and nature. Each one is hand-selected by our own artist in residence, Julie Smith. She’s curated a collection that’s spun from the British landscape, with wisps of seaside, cliff, and moor. They’re selected to work harmoniously together, playing with complementary tones and textures. A simple linen, for example, acts as an anchor amidst waves of colour and winds of pattern.

Tailor is our first ever foray into wood-focused furniture, which can be dressed up with upholstery accents or kept clean for a contemporary look. We use Oak and Beech wood sourced from European FSC-certified forests to ensure we’re doing our part to build sustainability into each Tailor product.
We work with specially trained partners, like our friend Steve just down the road, to spin these lovely materials into beautiful, functional pieces.
Each one is handcrafted and made to order, ensuring we take a careful and considerate approach to each and every element.
Wood is a naturally warm and beautiful material and we take a whole lot of care to help it shine to its maximum potential. We’re thrilled to finally show it off in its own right, bringing you the Tailor concept in its many personalisable forms!

We like to do things ourselves – from crafting each sofa frame by hand, to upholstering it in your choice of fabric, to packing it up for the big trip to its new home. That’s why we decided to take things one step further and offer our very own white glove delivery service!
We work hard to make sure every piece is finished to perfection, so we want to be sure that it shows up to your home that way. Our TLC Delivery team are bona fide experts! Not only are they familiar with our furniture, but in many cases, they will have made it in the past. That means they’re perfectly primed to tackle any assembly in stride. Plus, because they’re handling Arlo deliveries only, they’ve got all the time in the world to make sure your new furniture is placed and primped just as you want it. They can even give it a steam before they go, leaving you with a picture perfect perch.
How It Works
Our TLC Delivery team is full of chatty types! They’ll get in touch as your order is nearing completion so they can propose a delivery date. First we’ll let you know whether it will be in the morning or afternoon. Then we’ll pop you a text message on the day of delivery to let you know when our drivers are about an hour away. That way, you can carry on with your day and focus on getting excited about the big moment!
