A Myriad of Design Possibilities
Armadillo’s bestselling Agra rug is an exquisite celebration of the alchemy of color.
An industry favorite and the rug of choice for leading interior designers, our signature style has been featured in projects around the world, from Sydney to New York to London and beyond, since its origination in 2017.
Oft imitated but impossible to replicate, Agra is widely regarded as the most premium example of a hand knotted rug. Its singular beauty and exceptional quality results from the finesse of fibre, dye and construction at the hands of skilled artisans.
Agra spans the full color spectrum, available in a palette of 54 hues developed in-house with reference to the principles of color theory and inspiration drawn from the natural world. From earthy neutrals to verdant greens and effervescent blues, dusty greys to blooming pinks and show-stopping yellows – there is a color to suit any space.
To achieve its unrivalled depth and dimension, pure wool is handspun, abrash overdyed in a solid color, then intricately knotted into a sumptuously soft pile. Each hue is enlivened by delicate shifts in shading that subtly reflect the light – mesmerizing striations that lend Agra the versatility to act as the feature or serve as a tonal backdrop.
“I am drawn to Agra for its composition and color.”
– Tali Roth, Tali Roth Interior Design Studio
Agra has an enduring appeal, designed to wear beautifully over time just as color has captivated us across the ages. Since each iteration of our signature product is completely made by hand, no two are exactly alike – tapping into our ingrained need to express our unique individuality and transforming any interior into a true conversation starter. CERTIFIED FOR COMMERCIAL USE
Armadillo is the first brand to be accredited under the Carpet Institute of Australia’s globally-recognized commercial grading system for rugs.
Previously, international certifications for contract use only existed for other types of floor coverings. The Carpet Institute of Australia has introduced a scheme specifically for hand-woven, hand-knotted, hand-tufted and machine-made rugs.
Agra is now officially endorsed for heavy duty residential and light commercial applications, exceeding industry benchmarks for quality, performance and safety.
Tested by independent laboratories and assessment by a panel of experts, the qualification guarantees the rug’s performance with respect to:
• direct soiling,
• yarn withdrawal,
• color fastness to rubbing,
• cold water staining,
• extractable matter,
• color fastness to light and shampooing,
• secondary backing adhesion,
• insect resistance,
• fiber content,
• pile mass,
• changes in surface texture and color,
• burning behaviour, and
• indoor air quality (100% free of VOCs).
“The quality is best in class.”
