Guttenberg Arts is pleased to present Joint Ventures, the second iteration of our new Exhibition Program series. Joint Ventures is a solo show of Union City-based artist Armando Guiller, whose work bridges art and engineering. The exhibition features fifteen works through which the artist explores nature’s building blocks, crucial elements that allow for life’s development and growth. Armando Guiller’s work dwells on jointures as metaphors of change and organic adaptation. He makes joints and junctions visible, bridging the gap between diverse materials, and piecing together disparaging forms. By combining shapes with a twist, straight lines bend and become curves; two-dimensional forms evolve into volumes. As the artist points out, “my sculpting process consists of stacking a chosen material in sections or layers to form a complex body, where the body refers to life, and the sections to those experiences that can turn its course.” Armando Guiller is a Cuban-American artist, but also works as a mechanical engineer. He lives and works in Union City, New Jersey. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in the United States and abroad. He recently had a major solo exhibition at the William Paterson University. In Joint Ventures, he presents five mid-size sculptures of his signature style, as well as a series of decades-old works on paper never before shown. This exhibition will be open to the public from March 18 through April ?? at the Lake House at James J. Braddock Park in North Bergen. Joint Ventures is part of a new Exhibition Program organized by Guttenberg Arts and curated by Meyken Barreto and Elvis Fuentes that focuses on artists living and/or working in the New Jersey area. This new series of exhibitions is taking place in two locations: the Guttenberg Arts Gallery in Guttenberg and the Lake House at James J. Braddock Park in North Bergen.
