KENZIE CRAIN (‘22) fi nds ceramics to be extremely empowering. “I like looking at a piece … and knowing that I made it entirely.” Although the uncertainty of ceramics can be daunting, Kenzie admits that “there’s only so much you can do … You don’t know what will happen to your work in the kiln, and you don’t know how certain glazes will interact with the clay body or with each other.” She remarks that although the class can be very time consuming and challenging, it is extremely rewarding to see your pieces out of the kiln, “It’s my favorite class because ... [I have] the time to sit down and be slow with my work.”
