A TRULY BREATHTAKING DAY
HAPPILY EVER AFTER: Jess and Jeffrey Gilbert wed in front of freinds and family in their backyeard surprise wedding PHOTO: Jodie Williams Photogrpahy.
Style caught up with local newly-weds Jess and Jeffrey Gilbert who said “I Do” in front of friends and family at their surprise backyard wedding.
O
N July, 1 this year Jess Foreman and Jeffrey Gilbert made a lifelong commitment to each other in front of friends and family. We caught up with the couple to chat about their special day and discuss the newly-weds future plans. Where did you meet your husband? We met in Chinchilla actually through my place of employment initially. I signed him up as a tenant. Then we met properly a few

months later at a local football match. How did Jeffrey first catch your eye? He had a nice smile and amazing blue eyes. How did he propose? We were able to purchase our first home in December 2016 (it was actually the house that I grew up in)! While getting a photo out the front with the sold sign and holding our son, he got down on one knee and popped the question. It was perfect! Where were you married? We originally were looking at a destination wedding, though the costs quickly added up and we simply did not want to spend that. Then when we set our engagement party and naming day for Sonny later that night we thought "why not get married at the same time?" We planned a surprise backyard wedding in our new home. Who was lucky enough to walk you down the aisle? My 87 years young grandfather. Tell us about your dress. I had set myself a budget and my dress came way under. It was a fitted white lace style which I managed to get for only $490. What is your fondest memory of the day? There are so many, but mostly was my husbands vows- not only to me but also to my 6 year old son. He got down on his knees and gave him a Saint Christopher necklace and vowed to be there for him as best he could as his new step dad. There was not a dry eye in the room! www.chinchillanews.com.au

tyle also caught up with with new husband Jeffrey Gilbert to gauge his thoughts on the day.
What did you think when you first saw Jess walking down the aisle? Wow! That was the first thought, but quickly after that was the thought not to cry too much after she put the pressure on me (as she though I would cry heaps). Did you have any idea of what her dress looked like before the big day? I thought I did. In the month leading up to it she explained what she liked. So I had a picture in my head and I was completely wrong. I don't mind though cause she looked even more beautifulthan what I thought. Were you nervous the morning of? I was indeed. The family and grooms-men around the house
were calling me “groomzilla” cause I wanted it to be exactly as she planned (laughs). What was the highlight of the day for you? Apart from marrying the woman of my dreams; just having a wedding that was relaxed and chilled. Everyone was being themselves and enjoying it. Our guests were having a good time, which meant we had a good time What were the key qualities that made you want to spend the rest of your life with Jess? She was so easy to talk to. We just hit it off from the first date. She was smart funny, strong, a great mother and loved footy (league). What more could you want? Oh that's right, she was pretty nice on the eyes as well! How would you sum up your wedding day? Perfect. Just our families, our friends and our two amazing kids to celebrate.

DRESSED TO THRILL Take time when selecting your gown and remember, the most striking pieces are often the most simple. Don’t be afraid to buck tradition. WHILE you may not keep your wedding dress forever, it will live on through your photos, videos and memories made on your special day so you want to make sure its design is something that encapsulates the feel-good milestone. Next to the happy couple, the bride’s dress is the star of the day so the sooner you find your dream creation the better. Ensuring a perfect fit which allows for comfortable movement and ease of travel is paramount. Making adjustments and fixing any issues early means less last minute panicking. We’ve all seen the disasters formal gowns can induce at the Oscars so ensure you can walk up steps and get in and out of your transport without too much hassle. When selecting your wedding dress it is important to consider your body type. You will be wearing the dress for up to 12 hours on one of the biggest days of your life so you need it to behave and perform its main duty of making you look good. Naturally budgets dictate what kind of design you will choose. Sometimes a beautiful, simple silk dress from a designer boutique will be a lot more affordable than a synthetic creation from a bridal shop. Don’t go overboard and spend all your money on the dress and skimp on the menu. Guests are likely to remember the catering experience rather than how amazing that strapless frock looked. If you are having a traditional wedding, go for classic white tones (there are plenty to choose from). A stark white will be quite bright and best against darker skin
CONSIDER SHAPE: The right dress style for your body will work wonders for your overall look. PHOTO: Agency.
tones, while diamond white is slightly muted and suits lighter skin tones. Hold a few different examples up to your face and you can usually tell which shades make your skin pop. Pastel colours have been seen coming down the aisle recently and not just on the bridesmaids. Brides have decided to ditch the white (which symbolises purity) and makes their vows 21st century-style. Some of the latest styles brides are choosing include deep neck plunge dresses, bustier tops and laid-back bohemian lace dresses. If the planets align and you can find a dress that suits your frame, colouring and personality, within your budget, don’t hesitate in putting down a deposit to secure it. You can always change your mind later if something else comes along.

N this day and age – achieving business success takes a multi-faceted approach. "The Downs and Maranoa communities, to me, are beautiful, proud, regions with hard working, down to earth people at their heart. ONE LONG TABLE
Taste buds are set to be tantalised when One Long Table hitS Chinchilla
T
HE region’s best produce will be on the table this October in Chinchilla. Celebrating food, culture and diversity, the annual One Long Table event will be transforming Heeny St into an outdoor dining fare. This year’s event is expected to be the biggest one yet according to Chinchilla Community and Industry Inc. events coordinator Gaye Smith. "Last year was such a successful event and we are hoping to continue that this year," she said. "From what I heard there was around 2000 attendees last year and we are hoping to hit the 3500 mark this time so there will be more stalls and more entertainment." New food vendors to join the line-up this year include Garry’s Woodfired Pizza, The Greek Truck, The Cheese Van, Macey’s Hot Bread and Panashe. "There are going to be a variety of multicultural cuisines, ranging from Mexican to Thai to German," Ms Smith said.
One Long Table committee members Gaye Smith CCCI events manager and Rohan Woodforth from Basecamp Chinchilla. PHOTO: Contributed.
"The food is served more like tapas style and is affordable enough so that you can try several different dishes." The event caters for all ages with a kid’s area with a jumping castle and fun activities and a licensed area for the adults. One Long Table will be held on October 14 in Heeny St, Chinchilla. A NEW KIND OF FRESH Stop Underarm Sweat with miraDry, the treatment helping clients restore confidence ooking and feeling your best shouldn’t include the potential embarrassment caused by underarm sweat and odour. Put the focus on YOU..... NOT your underarm SWEAT!
However, as with any medical treatment, your physician will determine the best protocol for your desired results. Is the treatment painful? Since local anaesthesia is administered to the underarm prior to treatment, most patients experience little to no pain. Should I plan on any downtime? Most patients experience minimal downtime and return to normal activity right after treatment and typically resume exercise within several days. How the miraDry treatment works miraDry uses microwave energy which is proven to be the ideal method for treating the sweat and odour glands in the underarm. It creates targeted heat in the area where glands reside and safely eliminates them. The advanced design of the miraDry system continuously cools your skin during treatment for added comfort and safety. Now available at Cosmetic Elegance Clinic Dr Eddie Roos, Medical Director of Cosmetic Elegance Clinic, is very excited about the new miraDry treatment offered at his clinic in Toowoomba. Dr Eddie Roos believes this is a treatment that will change people’s lives and increase their self-esteem. To book an appointment or for more information on the miraDry treatment call Cosmetic Elegance Clinic on 4638 2700 or visit our website www.cosmeticelegance.com.au.

herish This Day is a recently-formed not-for-profit organisation that "aims to raise the wedding and events platform in the Burnett region". “Our aim is to showcase the fact that the Greater Burnett Region is a beautiful backdrop for any wedding or special occasion,” said Cherish This Day’s Media Officer and magazine editor, Amanda Wenck. “Combined with the expertise of our local wedding and event specialists, it is the perfect location or destination. “We are excited to have produced a free digital bridal magazine that is full of articles and ideas to help plan the perfect special day. “With links throughout the magazine and a directory of our members, we make it easy to connect with industry experts in the region.” The magazine has been a wonderful success, being viewed over 3,200 times since its launch two months ago. "With many brides choosing destination weddings, we want to
showcase the fact that brides and event organisers have a variety of quality choices right on their doorstep,” organisation President Karen Bradwell said. “We also want to promote this region further afield so that brides will start choosing our region for their destination wedding.” The free digital magazine is available for viewing and download at www.cherishthisday.com.au. For wedding industry supplies, such as photographers, florists, event coordinators, caterers, celebrants, winery and venue owners, dressmakers, hair and make-up artists, cake makers etc, becoming a Member of the Cherish This Day organisation offers many benefits, including discounted advertising in the digital magazine, directory listings on the website and discounted site fees for future events hosted by the organisation. THE GIFT OF LIFE
Dr John Esler puts his patients first
T
ime is of the essence when it comes to fertility problems, and Darling Downs patients are in safe hands under the expert care of Dr John Esler and his experienced team at the Queensland Fertility Group (QFG) Toowoomba Clinic. With more than twenty years’ experience in fertility services, Dr Esler offers cutting edge techniques, procedures and treatments that are considered by leading international fertility experts as giving patients the best and safest chance of achieving a pregnancy. Dr Esler understands that infertility problems are highly distressing and he recommends that patients should seek treatment early and from an experienced fertility specialist. “Infertility is defined as the inability to fall pregnant after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse, and for those over the age of 35 years, it is defined as inability to conceive afters 6 months of unprotected sexual intercourse,” he said. “Fertility problems are not confined to the female - male infertility can be a contributing factor which needs to be appropriately investigated. “I see so many patients who waited too long or spent unnecessarily on procedures that were never going to help their situation, so it is very important for couples to seek treatment from an experienced fertility specialist as early as possible.” Dr Esler and his experienced team offer a complete range of fertility investigations and treatments based on cutting-edge science and best practice techniques that are clinically and scientifically proven to produce high pregnancy rates1 with minimal risk to the patient. Patient needs are always a priority at QFG Toowoomba and the fertility services offered range from low-cost inseminations to full IVF services. All are personalised to the needs of the patient and patient preferences for specific treatment modalities are accommodated. There are no delays in accessing treatment. The QFG Toowoomba Clinic provides a relaxed and friendly environment, with diagnostic and procedural facilities conveniently located In-house. Dr Esler is one of Queensland’s most experienced gynaecology medical, surgical and fertility specialists. He established the QFG Toowoomba Clinic in 1996, and he and his team have helped produce more than 1200 babies the clinic has helped couples produce.
