Builder Registration Update

The start of 2023 has been a busy period for our Pathways team, who have rolled out several expansions and improvements to our very popular builder registration suite of programs.

For those seeking a registration in any of the limited or unlimited commercial classifications, a significant upgrade has occurred to our Commercial eLearning Registration Program, which now better reflects a delivery model suited to busy lifestyles. We appreciate the challenges faced by our members and students, when trying to juggle your registration training and application, with the other important yet time consuming things in life, such as your business, family, and friends.

The improved eLearning program will fully prepare you for your registration journey via a series of detailed eLearning modules, which cover — in depth — the following elements:

• Unlimited access to our new online learning portal to enable your access to training resources at any time, and on any device

• Detailed and easy-to-follow information on the VBA application and assessment process

• One-on-one assistance with preparing your application and portfolio, prior to a detailed review by our specialist team, then submission to the VBA on your behalf

• Self-paced training on content from the relevant Acts, Regulations, NCC and Australian Standards; the subject matter of your VBA assessments

• Access to several hundred simulated VBA exam questions within our online multiplechoice simulated exams

• Access to several detailed plan reading exercises, designed to simulate this component of your VBA assessment

• A three-hour one-on-one tutorial with our builder registration specialist trainer, which can be used as either of the following:

» A general re-cap on the elements covered within the eLearning program, or

» An in-depth revision on any element which you feel requires further explanation

» A simulated VBA interview to assist you with your preparation.

During the first few months of this year, we have also expanded our offerings for those seeking registration in domestic classifications.

A suite of technical eLearning modules have been developed and will be combined with our existing legislative modules, which form part of our highly successful domestic registration program. As such, we are now able to offer registration assistance to members and students in the following Domestic Builder – Limited fields:

• Bathrooms and Kitchens, for smaller builders seeking a DB-L (Bathroom, kitchen, and laundry)

• Cabinet Making & Joinery, for those seeking a DB-L (Cabinet makers and shopfitters)

• Footings and Slabs, for concreters seeking a DB-L (Footings and slab work)

• Masonry, for bricklayers seeking a DB-L (Bricklaying and blocklaying)

• Landscaping, for those seeking a DB-L (Construction of structural landscaping)

• Waterproofing, for those seeking a DB-L (Waterproofing)

• Civil & Earthworks, for those seeking a DB-L (Earthworks and excavation works).

Those seeking a limited classification will now undertake a study program with us that includes:

• 1 x Application awareness module (virtual classroom delivery)

• 6 x Legislation awareness modules (virtual classroom delivery)

• 1 x Technical eLearning module specific to your trade (online self-paced delivery)

• 1 x Study & Tabbing module (virtual classroom delivery)

• 1 x Private study session with one of our trainers held virtually at a mutually agreeable time.

Our existing Domestic Builder Registration program will remain unchanged for those seeking either a DB-Unlimited or DB-Limited to carpentry.

With such flexible and industry-leading training materials, we can be confident that when you leave us and head off to the VBA for assessment, you are very well placed to obtain registration first shot, like the many hundreds of other members and students who have achieved their registration aims with the assistance of Master Builders Victoria.
