2020 WOMEN OF STRENGTH LUNCHEON

WHEN: Friday, March 13, from 11am to 3pm WHERE: Rumours International Convention Centre, 323 Ruthven St, Toowoomba City WHAT: This annual event raises important funds for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation. It will be a day with bubbles to drink, a delicious two-course meal, opportunities to win great prizes, and great company. Guests will also be inspired by the Honourable Julie Bishop, who will be the guest speaker. Tickets are currently sold out to this event, but keep an eye open on social media and toowoombahospital foundation.org.au for any people who may not be able to attend. TOOWOOMBA AND SOUTH WEST FIRIES CHARITY GOLF DAY

WHEN: Friday, March 13, from 9am to 5pm WHERE: City Golf Club, 254 South St, Toowoomba WHAT: Support our fireys and join them for a perfect day of golf on the incredible grounds of Toowoomba’s own City Golf Club. This annual charity event raises funds for the Toowoomba Hospital Emergency Department. Registration starts from 9.30am with a shotgun start at 10.30am. Tickets are $55 and include a game of golf, delicious roast roll, drink ticket, a goodie bag and three raffle tickets. Book via the City Golf Club pro shop on 4636 9080 or 4635 4800. DARBY MCCARTHY RACE DAY

WHEN: Saturday, March 14, from 4pm to 10pm WHERE: Toowoomba Turf Club, Clifford Park Racecourse, Hursley Rd, Toowoomba City WHAT: This inaugural race day pays tribute to one of the greatest ever indigenous jockeys: Darby McCarthy. Darby was a trailblazer for indigenous jockeys, riding more than 1000 race winners in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Tickets cost $75 and include complimentary beer, house wine or soft drink on arrival, with canapes to be served as well. TAKE A HIKE TOOWOOMBA

WHEN: Sunday, March 22, from 6am to 11am WHERE: Queens Park Gardens, cnr Lindsay and Campbell streets, East Toowoomba WHAT: Aimed at raising vital funds for children with autism, this challenge is open to people of every fitness level with events including a 5km, 10.5km and 21km course. Participants can choose to either walk or run in a team or go solo. All funds raised go towards providing early intervention programs for children aged 2-6 with autism. Entry is from $30 and registration is open online at supportus.aeiou.org.au

TOOWOOMBA STEAM WEEKEND

WHEN: Friday, March 20, to Sunday, March 22, from 9am WHERE: Toowoomba Railway Station, Railway St, Toowoomba City WHAT: Go back in time and experience a ‘proper’ train ride with Southern Downs Steam Railway. There will be four trips from Toowoomba to Wyreema over the weekend, as well as a trip from Warwick on the Friday from midday. Tickets are $20 adults and $10 children.
