By Armelle Breuil Part of the master thesis project in architecture «L’Hôpital de toutes les consommations» executed at Ecole Nationale Supérieure Paris Val de Seine under the supervision of Alain Guiheux & Catherine Rannou in 2017. The project consists of an «architectural» project and a written part.
60ies, an era full of pop, colors, wishes for peace, and psychedelics, social rights... and of course demonstration, leading to riots, students vs government. all around the world ideas of equality, freedom and fraternity rub off. from the u.s to europe, from san francisco to paris, berkeley to tibet. a revolution expressed through art, architecture and literature.

it was a time for protests, to ask the u.s to stop war in vietnam, the norwegian one to give more right to women allow abortion.

the counterculture in oslo gathered at Cafe 7, initiated by attila horvath and odd schou. the club had different location... and so did the open-drug scene

From then, norway became one of the most repressive states in western europe on the drugs policy. the maximum penalty for drug offences rose from six months imprisonment to 6 years, to 21 years -the maximum prison sentence for a crime under norwegian law. Drug users were forced to move, from the western part of the city to the eastern part, chased. this happened not only in scandinavia but all around the world, and today drug users remain a minority, a criminalized group victim of many abuse. an eternal journey began at the Slottparken and ended up at the bus stop of brugata and in the shopping mall "gunerius", owned by olav thon, soon destroyed to build another hotel. but what if it did not happen that way?

a building in which, according to the entrance you choose, reveals different functions, sensations and experience to you. upside down, inside out.

the top floor is the ashram space, where with psychotropics or not, you can experience yoga and other meditation
the second floor -where you are going- is where you can get the substitution program and "cure". we also teach better practise.
the first floor -where we are- is dedicated to the drug consumption room, relax space and first aid. you can get free needles i can explain you a bit better how the academy works
on the bottom floor, lies the relaxing room, not too far from our lab and the night club
