The Maze Runner Trilogy By Armin Eminovic s2943188
The Original Books ď ľ
These are the original book cover designs created by James Dashner. The trilogy looks great as it is, but with my design I went for more of a simplistic approach that I personally thought looked nice in its own way.
Mock-ups ď ľ
These were the three mock-ups I decided to use after about 2 other book cover choices. In the end I decided I wanted to make the covers look neat and simple.
The Maze Runner
For this book since it’s called ‘The Maze Runner’ and the actual book is placed in a maze I decided to use an actual maze for the book cover.
The Scorch Trials ď ľ
For this cover design which is second in the trilogy, they have to go through fiery trials, so I decided to use pen tool to create some fire to make it look nice and simple.
The Death Cure ď ľ
With this Cover I decided to combine the title into an image. As you can see you will notice a skull and a needle to portray the death and the cure part of the title.
Photos ď ľ
These are some photos that were taken of the book covers placed on an actual book.
Manifesto
Symbolism:
For each book I decided to use the pen tool in Photoshop to create the images. I made sure to create the images to suit each separate book. The books tell a story and the cover is trying to speak that message to the audience through the imagery and colours used.
Typography:
For each book I decided to stick with the same font, the font is nice and simple and suits the format of the book cover. With the text I didn’t want to over do it by making it either too fancy or to eye popping for it to take the focus off the main part of the cover.
Colour:
For the colour on each separate book cover I decided to go with colours that coincide with the feeling off each book. For the maze runner book the setting of the book was placed in a large green maze that’s why the colour green coincides with it, while the scorch trials is set in a fiery setting and the death cure is set in a much darker setting making it perfect sense for the books to represent the feel of the story.
