WELCOME FROM CHAZ MOSTERT It is hard to believe that we are about to enter the 12th season of V8 Supercars where ARMOR ALL is the naming rights sponsor of the category’s Pole Award. Over $1 million has been contributed over the years by ARMOR ALL to V8 Supercars across both the main series and the Dunlop V8 Supercars Series. To have my name etched alongside the likes of Jamie Whincup, Mark Skaife, Craig Lowndes and Marcos Ambrose so early in my career is something pretty cool and it has taken some time to sink in, especially in the circumstances. Holding onto the ARMOR ALL Pole Award despite missing every qualifying session from Bathurst onwards is amazing considering how competitive the category is and how close the qualifying sessions are. Whilst I have a great team behind me at Prodrive Racing Australia and great sponsors like Pepsi Max last year and Supercheap Auto this year, it is awards like the ARMOR ALL Pole Award that gives the fans more interest and gives us more to chase for. The team back at the PRA base like it at the end of the weekend as well when we come home with those big ARMOR ALL cheques for the post de-brief barbecue! As a V8 Supercars driver, you always aim to be the fastest. Taking the ARMOR ALL Pole Award shows that you are the fastest over the season when the pressure is on, so that’s a good feeling! I hope to be pounding Arnie ARMOR ALL’s hammer and seeing plenty of Paul Blair and the team from ARMOR ALL after qualifying more than a few times this year and we can back last year’s success up for the #55 Supercheap Auto Racing team. We hope you enjoy ARMOR ALL’s 12th anniversary Fan Guide powered by Speedcafe.com. Let’s rock it! Chaz Mostert

HISTORY OF THE ARMOR ALL POLE AWARD The ARMOR ALL Pole Award has become one of the most sought after prizes in Australian motorsport. Awarded to the polesitter at the end of qualifying for the V8 Supercars Championship and Dunlop V8 Supercars Series, the ARMOR ALL Pole Award rewards the brave. The end of season overall Award is given to the driver that sets the most ARMOR ALL Pole Positions during the season. Coming into 2016, the newest ARMOR ALL Pole Award recipient is Ford young gun, Chaz Mostert - who took the crown despite eliminating himself from the back part of the season with his well documented Bathurst crash - ironically in qualifying. Even more ironic is that coming into 2015, Mostert had never recorded a V8 Supercars Championship Pole Position. The King of the ARMOR ALL Pole Award though remains Red Bull Racing Australia’s Jamie Whincup who has six end-of-season Pole Awards to his credit. Remarkably, he is the only driver to be crowned ARMOR ALL Pole Award end of year Champion more than once. Mark Skaife was the inaugural winner of the Award in 2006, clinching four pole positions in that year. 2015 V8 Supercars Champion, Mark Winterbottom was the 2007 Pole Award Winner - when he himself was very much carving the wheel tracks that Mostert is now following. Whincup’s four straight run began in 2008, before his good friend Will Davison was able to wrest the title from him in 2012. Whincup won the next two before handing the mantle to Mostert - who had never recorded a main game pole before 2015. Looking at numbers since the Australian Touring Car Championship began in 1960, the most prolific polesitter of them all is Whincup with 67 poles. Following him - unbelievably - is the King of the Mountain, Peter Brock (57), Mark Skaife (41) and Allan Moffat (39). Since its inauguration in 2006, V8 Supercar ARMOR ALL Pole Position winners have included Chaz Mostert, Mark Skaife, Garth Tander, Jason Bright, Todd Kelly, James Courtney, Mark Winterbottom, Rick Kelly, Jamie Whincup, Steven Richards, Craig Lowndes, Steve Johnson, Jason Richards, Will Davison, Jason Bargwanna, Lee Holdsworth, Alex Davison, Paul Dumbrell, Greg Murphy, David Reynolds, Shane van Gisbergen, Tim Slade, Fabian Coulthard and Scott McLaughlin. The PIRTEK Enduro Cup was introduced by V8 Supercars to add a heightened significance to the three two-driver endurance races - the Wilson Security Sandown 500, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the Castrol Gold Coast 600. Accumulating points across all three endurance races, it places a focus on teamwork integral to V8 Supercars. The PIRTEK Enduro Cup trophy was designed and built by renowned Australian automotive artist, James Corbett. Red Bull Racing Australia relinquished its grip on the PIRTEK Enduro Cup trophy it has held since its inception following the Holden Racing Team’s triumph with Garth Tander and Warren Luff in 2015. PREVIOUS WINNERS: 2015 - Garth Tander and Warren Luff (HRT) 2014 - Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell (RBRA) 2013 - Craig Lowndes and Warren Luff (RBRA)

The temporary street track has proven to create carnage in the past, particularly when drivers don’t show the patience required for victory, so the co-drivers a this year’s event will have to tread carefully. 2015 HIGHLIGHT: James Courtney fought through pain to score a victory on his comeback event after sustaining broken ribs in a freak accident at Sydney Motorsport Park. and delivered Jack Perkins his first V8 Supercars victory. 2016 EVENT INFORMATION: Friday: 4 x 30 minute Practice, 1 x 40 minute Qualifying Saturday: 1 x 20 minute Qualifying, 1 x 300km Race Sunday: 1 x 20 minute Qualifying, Top 10 Shootout, 1 x 300km Race TYRE FORMAT: Soft. 28 Soft compound tyres BEST VANTAGE POINT: The beachside chicane is an awesome spot to watch the cars bounce over the kerbs. ITM AUCKLAND SUPER SPRINT CIRCUIT OVERVIEW Street Circuit: Pukekohe Park Raceway Location: Pukekohe, New Zealand Length: 2.9km Direction: Clockwise Maximum Speed: 265km/h Fastest Point: Pit straight and back straight Slowest Point: Turn 8 hairpin Corners: 11 (4 Left 7 Right) Most Race Wins: Greg Murphy 9 Most Pole Positions: Jamie Whincup 3 Qualifying Lap Record: 1m02.4690s (David Reynolds Ford falcon FG X 2015) Race Lap Record: 1m03.2737s (David Reynolds Ford Falcon FG X 2015) Defending Winners: Jamie Whincup x2, David Reynolds CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION: A $6.6 million upgrade saw a new-look Pukekohe Park Raceway return to the V8 Supercars Championship in 2013. A range of works were undertaken, including the addition of a chicane towards the end of the back straight which extends the circuit marginally from 2.83km to 2.91km. The change does not alter the fast and flowing nature of the circuit, which previously hosted the championship in 2007 prior to a five-year street racing experiment in nearby Hamilton. 2015 HIGHLIGHT: Craig Lowndes’ Championship hopes were hampered when he suffered a high speed tyre failure while leading Race 29. 2016 EVENT INFORMATION: Friday: 3x 30 minute Practice Saturday: 2x 10 minute Qualifying, 2x 100km Races Sunday: 2x 10 minute Qualifying, 2x 100km Races TYRE FORMAT: Soft. 24 Hard compound tyres BEST VANTAGE POINT: Standing on the outside at Mountain Bend provides an opportunity to see the V8 Supercars fly through a tricky kink before coming onto the main straight.
