A MESSAGE FROM BOO CORRIGAN Dear Black Knight Fans, It is my distinct honor to present this year’s annual report which chronicles our many success stories during the 2010-11 season. Once again, our cadet-athletes, coaches and administrators fulfilled the department’s mission of winning championships while emphasizing leadership development, character and ethical conduct. Starting in the fall with the football team’s victory in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl and continuing through the three Patriot League team championship performances in the spring, it was a great year to be a Black Knight. Overall five teams won their respective conference championships and four of our programs qualified for the NCAA postseason. The annual Army-Navy “Star Series” was split down the middle at 11 wins each. It was the first time since 1995-96 that Navy did not win the competition outright. In addition to the team success, our cadet-athletes continued to be recognized as some of the best at the conference, regional and national level. Army performers earned a total of 90 all-conference certificates, while 15 cadet-athletes won major awards from the Patriot League. Lacrosse’s Jeremy Boltus was a first-team All-America selection from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, the program’s first since 2005. Our coaches were also recognized for their outstanding work with four Patriot League Coach of the Year citations. Our program also had a banner year in the classroom. Six cadet-athletes earned Academic All-America honors, three of them first-team selections. We had three Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year honorees, including recentlycommissioned 2nd Lt. Erin Anthony who became the first player in the conference’s 20-year history to win the award three times. During the spring semester, 421 cadets, which represents 45 percent of corps squad athletes, were named to the Dean’s List. Nine teams achieved a spring GPA of at least 3.0 and 13 teams put at least half of its roster on the Dean’s List. As successful as the 2010-11 season was, we are looking forward to reaching even greater heights in 2011-12. We just completed a strategic planning exercise with our executive staff to take a forward-thinking approach in developing our department’s goals and mission statement. We are in the process of finalizing those materials and I look forward to sharing that information with you in the near future. Rest assured, our goals and mission statement will always be nested firmly with those of the Academy, with the best interests of our cadet-athletes always at the forefront. Your continued support is vital to reaching our goal of providing an extraordinary athletic experience. Thank you again for all of your support of Army Athletics. I appreciate all of your contributions to our success.
