Nightingale Queensberry Street Project Overview + Visual illustrations
Through this project, the potential of Nightingale Housing is explored, in the context of truly affordable living in the city. To challenge the status quo of speculative development, the proposal endured a new typology, that aims to significantly reduce the cost per dwelling, whilst providing high quality architectural spaces. In addition to that, the proposal has dedicated communal spaces and shared resources to generate an aspirational Apartment Design.
NIGHTINGALE QUEENSBERRY STREET The Portfolio was designed in two parts. The first part demonstrates my creative thinking and technical skills in 3D modelling and realistic rendering. The second part highlights my understanding of design development + documentation skills in Revit with Spowers Architects.
1. Affordability The project aims to address the issue of housing affordability through small footprint design.
2. Small Footprint Living The innovative small footprint living will not only reduce the cost per dwelling, but will also minimize net carbon footprint.
3. Rental + Ownership Model
4. Communal Spaces
The Rental model will enable wider demographics, especially young couples and first time buyers to take part in housing ownership.
To create an aspirational apartment design, and to foster community living, it is essential to focus on the communal spaces. Therefore, the building has dedicated communal spaces on every floor with larger footprints on the ground floor and terrace.

NIGHTINGALE QUEENSBERRY STREET ( SMALL FOOTPRINT LIVING ) The city of Melbourne is experiencing an uncontrolled urban sprawl, as it is becoming increasingly challenging to provide a liveable and habitable dwelling near the city. Hence, through this project, I have explored the potential of Nightingale Housing, in the context of genuinely affordable living in the city. To challenge the status quo of speculative development, I have proposed a new typology, that aims to significantly reduce the cost per unit while providing high-quality architectural spaces. In addition to that, the proposal has dedicated communal areas and shared resources to generate an aspirational Apartment Design.
Treehouse 2.0 Rent : $250 Per Week Area : 22-25 Sqm
Rent : $160 Per Week Area : 16 Sqm
The smaller units create more space for the living area, home office and exercise. As a result, the bed is decked at 2.2 metres in the tree house and can be accessed via a wooden staircase. The 4 Pack living has intelligent wooden joinery to convert the bedroom into a liveable space during the day. TreeHouse 2.0 is a duplex style concept with private areas separated at the top level. Each of these units maximises on usable space and has access to daylight.
