SWOT ANALYSIS
For my first project in sketch up; I'm really having trouble about memorizing all of the tools and figuring out all of their uses. But, I did enjoy it a lot. It was also my first year here in San Francisco, so I’m still figuring out how to communicate properly, but I did understand English. With regards to architectural stuff, it really fascinates me to learn new things and new stuff. For this project, which is the dog house, I'm not really sure about the outcome of my project, all I just did is to work on it and make it presentable as much as possible.
STRENGTH: I was able to learn new techniques and discover new tools with regards to designing using Sketch up. I was able execute the way I plan my design to applying it through sketch up. I was able to learn all of my weaknesses when it comes to sketch up. WEAKNESSES: one of the weaknesses that I had in this program is the lack of knowledge in other different tools. Time management I'm having trouble recognizing the tools that I need to perform a certain task for my project. OPPORTUNITY: Learning how to design in a new form of application. Learn how to solve design project using sketch up THREATS: Time management One of the treats that I had, is the lack of communications to my classmates and prof every time I had any questions with regards to the software.
I designed this two story dog house in order to have a good ventilation, space and lighting for the comfortability and the accessibility of the dogs. Just like human being, animals also need a good well-designed and constructed structure that gives them the notion of security. It also provokes the sense of freedom that may vary on the interior spacing of the structure. I tried to manipulate the tools in every way that I can, but I can’t figure it out. I’m used to drafting plans rather than doing it on computer.

REFLECTIONS:
SWOT ANALYSIS:
My second Dog House, inspired by my previous Dog House. In this project, I conceptualize and use the vertical structures inside and outside of my building. I also manage to learn everything from my previous mistakes in my previous project, and solve some of my problems without using so much time. In addition, I got much more confident as before because of Jerry’s inspiring messages. I was really shock that a teacher can be very hands on and responsible to the welfare of his students, either mentally, socially and emotionally. I just love listening to his every words as if I was listening to my parents. In his every word, in his every explanation and in his every movement, for me is a blessing, its an honor to hear such words and guidance from a person who is humble enough to understand each and every students he had. I will take it and keep it in mind and heart, because I know it will help me in my career and in life.
STRENGTH: > I learned how to make structure using sketch up and conduct some of my ideas that is quite impossible in hand drawing. >I learned how to improve my techniques in building structures. I gained much more knowledge about some of the conceptual procedure of building structure. I learned how to be patient, and do everything step by step. WEAKNESSES: I am having trouble when it comes to rotation. OPPORTUNITY: I learned few techniques. I am having fun using this software. TREATS: Health issues, Asthma and flu. Lack of sleep Time management
CUBES
REFLECTION: Knowing the basic fundamentals, shortcuts and commands in sketch up is a very helpful, in term of building a structure in a more faster and productive ways. When I was doing this cube, I don’t know what will it looks like, I was just playing, adding and subtracting forms to create a multiple layout of space and surfaces. Although it is not really a good looking structure, I was happy to experiment using shortcuts and commands. Before forming all of the cubes I realize that it is much more easier for me to make a cube if I turn it into a components, in which I can easily erase the sides of the cube all at the same time. Thus, helps me to work fast.
ANALYSIS: Strength: > I learned new ways in making my structure much faster and productive. > I regained myself, through designing and having fun, using commands. Weaknesses: > I didn’t focus on the structural and conceptual design of the structure. Opportunities: >I learned new ways and techniques with regards to building using sketch up. Treats: > I might lost my conceptual design and go back to literal design, well, I guess I just have to be more precise with my overall concept.
REFLECTIONS As I was doing this, I still have a lot of design going to my mind, but I have no time to design all of it. Even though I didn’t finish some of my design, I was very happy to see and differentiate every single pattern to each other, it will be very useful in deciding what type of floor should I used. Further more, it will help me find out and experience the emotions that my design provokes. Using sketch up, I can definitely design a single floor in so many ways. Thus, gives me an advantage to perform a fantastic and realistic design. Doing floor pattern design is not easy, because as you go farther and farther the more you evaluate the integrity of the design, the more details it get, and the more chances for you to have hundreds of ideas but hard to decide which one is the best.
SWOT ANALYSIS STRENGHT: In this project, I learned how important floor patterns in setting the space and the mood of the interior space. It gives so many emotional factors that the client feel. WEAKNESSES: I had a limited knowledge when it comes in setting the mood using floor patterns. Thus, create commotions and undecided patterns. OPPORTUNITY: I learned how to develop my own floor patterns. And how sketch up can be very helpful in deciding which is the best design that will fit into the space. TREATS: I had a fever. Time management It was really hard to balance a full time work, part time work, and studies.
REFLECTIONS I always love to draw, it gives me such relief every time I’m in pain, stress, depress, frustrated, and lonely. Drawing is already part of my life, just like a singer that can’t hold herself from being far away from music. I always do sketching before I make my plan, it helps me organize my design and helps me clarify my intention. During this phase, i feel like I am in a different world. Back in the Philippines, during our first semester in college, we also draw this kind of sketch, it only differs on the size of the paper, we used 20 x 24 inch cartolina. It was really hard to maintain a straight line in so many different directions. But, it also gives me the skills of controlling my hand very well. when I was doing this assignment, i remember all of my friends in the Philippines, most specially my girlfriend, who really admire my drawings.
SWOT ANALYSIS Strength: I already have a lot of experience when it comes to drawing, it gives me an advantage to learn more techniques. Weakness: I need to be more precise with my lines. Opportunity: I learned another techniques and ways when it comes to shading and shadows. I also learned how important it is to know the angles of the sun, to evaluate the location of the shadow. Treats: I always forget that I should draw this sketches for my assignment.

SWOT ANALYSIS
Designing a wall is a very crucial things, I have to incorporate the patterns that the nature have, and also define space that promotes or evokes such experience that I want my client to feel, or what they want to feel. I also realized while working in this exercise how important it is to use and integrate human scale to give measurement for my proposed structure. In this exercise I learned how to use the scale toolbar as well as the rotate toolbar, most especially the intercept. Nevertheless, this exercise really give me some ideas with regards to building structure.
Strength: I learned the importance and value of a certain wall in evoking a sense of wonder into a space and volume. Weakness: >I don’t know yet what type of wall should I use in different space to give a sense of reality. Opportunity: It gives me some sense of importance, in order to evoke a sense of feeling that I want to convey in a certain space, I need to learn what it feels. Treats: Availability and schedules Work time

SWOT ANALYSIS
As I was following jerry’s instructions and were already halfway of this exercise, and suddenly the computer that I was using shutdown. Now i didn’t show into the automatic save box, I was really frustrated, but there is nothing more I can do than to just sit down and try to catch up, I remembered every steps and every sizes as I was doing it again, but when I got to the point were I stop earlier I couldn’t catch up specially in the stairs and the railings. I tried to catch up, but I didn't have the chance to finish it, I still have to put the railings, but at that time I didn’t know how to build it using sketch up. In this exercise I learned how to build the dome and do the parallelism structure. I also have the chance to used the intercept that I learned in the previous structure walls. Doing the railings is impossible, maybe I just have to wait for the next exercise to learn it.
Strength: - I learned how to build a dome and incorporate parallelism that I learned in the 101 class. Using sketch up, it is not impossible for me to see the designs that are running in my mind like a crazy wire, personally. Weakness: I didn’t have the chance to learn how follow me tools work in railings. Opportunity: I learned how to make a dome. An it was really amazing knowing that sketch up can do a lot of things without using complicated commands. Treats: I was not paying attention during the follow me exercise for the railings, it was because my computer shut down without any warning.
Reflections:
I like this exercise, I learned a lot, from measurement to complex details and ideas of a residential house. During this exercise I learned to use the components and the groups. And most especially I learned how to use the follow me toolbar. It was really amazing that I can do everything using sketch up, from preliminary planning into a more complicated visual design, more importantly conceptual design. This software really has a very good potential in making my life easy in a fun and productive way. Although it didn’t have the automatic measurements, unlike Revit and AutoCAD, but for me, this is the best way to memorized every single detail of the structure, because you are going to put your measurement manually over and over again.
SWOT ANALYSIS
Strength: I learned how to use to the group, components, and follow me tools. I learned some few measurements, with regards to residential building. Weakness: I am having trouble with differentiating components and groups. Opportunities: I would be able to used follow me tools to have an advantage in making my project faster and accurately stable. Treats: I am having a hard time focusing on my project because of 6 subjects and fulltime job.

SWOT ANALYSIS
As I was looking on my previous design using sketch up, and compared it to this, I was really happy to improve this much in just a few months. Using some components as a base and a background, that I incorporate and learned from Oriol’s portfolio, I have come to this project. I also learned how to used follow me tools in a very different way, I thought it was only just for the railings. Building this project is not really hard, because of the instructions that Jerry posted in his folder. I was still planning to improve this project in the future, maybe this summer, because I was not complacent about my outcome.
Strength: I have now the knowledge to use components as my advantage in leveling up my design process. It is much more easier for me now to bring ideas into model design. Weaknesses: My weakness is about unity of the design. Opportunity: Well, I used my knowledge to bring up my ideas into perspective. I learned to be more patient in positioning my model into the components. Treats: I don’t have enough time Work
It was so awesome playing in this thing, I really loved it. I feel like I was a child again playing heroes and villains. Strenght: I became much more aware to details. I became much more playful with my design It was awesome, doing the game simulation. Weaknesses: I pay much more attention to my game, done the building structure itself. Opportunity: I learned how effective narrative is, in making a design. Treats: Work time
MALEVECH
Reflections: In this type of wall, I used the sandbox tools to form an organic wall extended as a roof. I color it with green to make it much more organic looking. Using this wall, it evokes the sense or the notions of wonder awe, and it also represent the tension and release force in the structures.
WALL
Reflections: A wall design that promotes relaxation and security while waiting for someone. It gives shades, and sun protection, a wide opening to overlook the view. This type of wall evokes the sense of security and comfort.
Reflections: It was designed to invite the lighting of the structure, but it creates a large form of shades to have a feeling of comfortability, the hollow spaces also invites the natural and environmental aspects, wind, light, and sound.
Reflections: Although it looks heavy, it still have a notion of a welcoming place that everyone should experience.
Reflections: All in all this is my favorite wall, I don’t know why, but it just feel lightness that oppose the power of the gravity. I create the overhang to be inclined, in order to break the symmetrical value of the structure.
Reflections: A semi pointed wall, creating hierarchical values and significant form of parallelism. It was like a folding roof that I experiment using the move toolbar.
Reflections: I just designed it in a much more simple and less complicated ways, but really exposed its verticality from the ground, it creates a very dramatic scene.
Reflections: During the design process, I don’t really know of what am I going to build. I just keep on missing around with the forms, organizing and unifying the elements together, thus, creates a hypothetical elements in my mind. By combining and rearranging the positions and rotating some of the structure, I form this very dramatic, bone type structure. I did really enjoy doing this, furthermore, I learned a lot. Doing while thinking, or thinking while doing, I can’t figure it out yet, I don’t really know. Strength: - More knowledge about the software, and more discoveries. Weaknesses: Sometimes I got stack, especially during the starting point of the process. Opportunity: I learned new technique.
Reflections:
SWOT ANALYSIS
Conducting few iterations first, and I just keep on adding the cubes to form the structural elements, then I created the arches trough intercept and groups. It was also hard to build the stairs, I just copied it after I group it first to form a unifying radial stairs. I was inspired to combined all of the things I learned in this half semester, I do feel that I improved a lot in my design, most especially with my personality. I started with this project around 1 P.M until 3 a.m., it was a very hectic schedule that I had to compressed and make use of every single time that I had together with my two more subjects; English 961A and Arch 1o1. I did finished them all at 6 a.m, and after a long time of working I still have to attend a nine hour class. Im really so tired at that time, but I don’t want to have a single absent in my records. After nine hours of class I didn’t know how I manage to sleep in my bed, it was a really exhausting day, but I feel happy and accomplished.
Strength: I had a good perception of what kind of structures should I build in order for me to summarize what I learned in the last half of the semester. I now learned how and when to use the tools that is necessary for a certain area. Weakness: I used a lot of time to build this structure, without resting, maybe I should learn more how to balance everything. Opportunities: I’ve got to use every single tools and command in building this structure, thus, helps me more to advance in my current knowledge work,, about sketch up. Treats: because o f a lot f things that are happening into my life and into my work, I nearly don’t have enough time.

SWOT ANALYSIS
Wooooooo… it was so cool doing this project, playing with the airplane as if they are moving in my mind, flying in every directions, or maybe I was just going crazy..i don’t know.. But, now that I can see what imagine, it was really amazing and wonderful, hoping that I could be part of it personally. Now, I finally learned how to use the sandbox tools, I was planning to make some this summer, while relaxing. Sketch up software for me is very useful. It was fun doing this, it reminds me of my childhood, making paper folding; paper plains, paper boat and a lot of stuff. It was a really memorable moments that is already a part of my life.
Strength: I learned how to use sandbox in a very complex and imaginative way, including the ocean that reflects the shadow of the folded airplane. I also learned how to use the rotate toolbar in a very different way. Weakness: I don’t know how to make the edges of the sandbox much more realistic. Opportunities: Finally, I learned how to fold stuff using sketch up, I thought it was impossible to build it in this software. Treats: I was one week delayed in passing this project, because I got sick, and it was so hard for me to focus on my design.
Reflections:
SWOT ANALYSIS
Honestly, as I was doing this, I don’t know what should I build, and for what purpose. I just keep on building and adding stuff, but as I was doing this I finally realize what I want.. I want a place that is wide enough for proper ventilation, lighting and wide space. I want the people who are walking inside and outside to appreciate the exterior and interior space. The exterior of the structure focuses on the verticality of the nature.
Strength: I was having a lot of ideas in my mind during the process of my design, but I am also having a hard time finding a connection of the structure and the function. Weakness: Before I started, I don’t have any idea of what kind of structure and design should I build. Opportunity: I realize that I can design a structure as I was doing it, I just keep on adding and subtracting stuff until I realize the purpose of my design Treats: I am having a hard time thinking of design.
I want to build a structure that everyone can go inside where they can have fun as if they were outside doing some picnic and eating their foods with a smile in their face.
Reflections:
SWOT ANALYSIS
Reflections: For this design, I was planning to make a maze, but suddenly I got loss.. I tried to color the Horizontal and Vertical surface in a different color, that helps me find my own way while imagining that I was personally walking in this maze structure. The thing that I love in this project is the unity of every single structure to each other, the shadows, and also the complexity of the design. I compare this project to my previous ones, and I guess I learned a lot. Nevertheless, I want to thank Jerry for helping us get through this stuffs.
Strength: I learned how to be more realistic when it comes to the proper proportion of the human scale. Weaknesses: I still have this kind of ideas in my mind, but I can’t build it due to some abnormalities in my design. Opportunities: I learned how to make a more comfortable and welcoming building, by just using parallelism. Treats: I got an asthma, I can’t focus very much in my projects.
Riding in a luxurious car, the wedding celebrant arrive from the church, where they were going to spend the rest of the night.
A very wonderful and amazing place on the top of the Clift, a very mysterious place that provokes wonder. This is going to be the new house of the newly wed couple, where they are going to build their own family and happiness.
it was a very beautiful place, a well designed house that is very welcoming. It contains a lot of different trees and animals, specially horse.
The faรงade of the building contains a curtain wall where they can enjoy looking at the sea and relax. The parents of the newly wed are all excited while watching the two walk at the path way going up.
Finally! The couple arrive at the top of the house. It was their first time seeing their newly house, it was a surprise from their parents.
The visitors go to their own respected tables with their group. It was starting to get dark.
The couple invite the visitors to please sit down.
The bride was left behind at the table, because the groom is looking for something to make the night much more fun. He was looking for music.
As the music turns on, the crowd started to dance at the center of the house, overviewing the beautiful sunset and the sea. The end. They got separated after 2 years.

Reflections: I was really happy with the outcome of this project. It was the whole plan of my current place. I did modify some parts most specially the living room in the first floor, it was currently a storage room, I just made it into it’s original plan. This place was built over 30 years ago, it was old but it was so beautiful. I’ve been staying here now for almost a year and a half already. In this project, I decided to build the whole plan, because I want to remember this place, in case we move to the other house. I was so amazed how sketch up can perform a very well-developed design and 3 dimensional plan. It was so simple, but it has a lot of uses. I tried to use everything I learned in the previous projects and incorporate some shortcuts to make my designing process a little bit faster.
SWOT ANALYSIS Strength: I learned a lot from my previous projects and mistakes. It was tough, but I really enjoyed doing this. Weaknesses: I always forgot to make some parts of the wall as a group. Opportunity: I’ve been given a chance to see the whole plan of the house, from it’s previous plan. Treats: I was delayed a little bit, because I got a lot of subjects and requirements to finished. And I also have 2 jobs.
TADAO ANDO’S RIN’S GALLERY
Reflections:
SWOT ANALYSIS
Tadao’s Andos Gallery, photo match exercise is a very helpful tool. It makes you modify a photo and add related structures that might connect to the real or imaginative building. This is a very unique exercise that push students to finish the project with complete details that perfectly fit to the related picture. I have spend probably almost 4 hours building this structure. I repeat it again, because the previous structure that I made, does not relate to the gallery itself. It was like a modernist structure that I myself hate. This exercise is not easy, because you have to think just like the designer of the structure itself, and the only difference is that you don’t know what are the requirements needed in building the structure itself. Furthermore, I don’t have enough knowledge of what is the purpose of this building, and the people who are welcome to come inside the structure.
Strength: I already have enough knowledge with regards to sketch up; the tools, the names, the functions, the shortcuts, the commands, the overall software commands. Tnx Jerry. Weaknesses: I don’t feel the functionality and the feeling that this gallery evokes. Opportunity: I learned new skills with regards to photo matching. Threats: I’m so exhausted with all of my work, requirement, and portfolios. I’m having a hard time connecting my feelings to the structure itself.

SWOT ANALYSIS
Through effort, hard work and having the courage to continue, I obtained this designed. It was designed for the functionality and accessibility of the two old couple. This will be their retirement house. I put natural colors to relax their body and mind and to avoid further stress to the couple. On the interior part of the structure, it was painted with connections to the natural colors at the exterior wall. It was a two storey house, that helps to reduce the temperature outside. I didn’t put any stairs, because I know old people tend to pee every single time. Rather than putting stairs, I put a lift elevator to help them with their access. And also I put, glass window and glass wall all around the structure to pay respect to the surroundings, thus, helps to improve the structural specificity of the house.
Strength: I know now how to used every tools. I am now on the experimenting process, and finding a much effective ways to improve my design. Weakness: I was overwhelmed too much by the structure. That is why I loss a little focus of what my structure will going to be. Opportunity: I learned and discover a new ways of painting. Threats: Final week, lots of requirements to every subjects.
