INTRODUCTION
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” Genesis 1:1
On behalf of A Rocha Brasil, (ARB) Governing Body gives in your hands the sixth edition of the expected Sustainability Annual Report 2014. It reflects our desire for transparency and accountability to all of you that have followed, participated and been involved with the ARB work throughout the country. Through this document I hope you can recognize God’s love and faithfulness in sustaining and blessings on the work that was done. The creation care means to depend on full of mercy and goodness of the Lord, who in the beginning created everyone and everything. In 2014, we reached at the end of a period of six years of fruitful partnership with Tearfund, UK. From this partnership, the ARB created an Environmental Education Program that by ReT (Transformation Network) acted in the North and Northeast of Brazil in training and encourage Christians to get involved with environmental issues in their local communities. From a broom factory of PET recycling bottles to the implementation of several environmental projects such as organic gardens, urban cleaning task force, transformation of organic waste into compost and recycling into income generation, the ReT found out special callings, dreams, wishes, commitments and loyalty of people whose minds and attitudes were transformed by the project. The ReT continues and now is working in the South and East regions in partnership with the Missão Aliança and it has already had amazing results in its first year. We also managed to step further in our Conservation Project through Betari Project in partnership with Agua Branca Baptist Church (São Paulo, SP). It was conducted an ethnobotanical study in Bairro da Serra (Iporanga, SP) which identified the major native species of the Atlantic Forest and those threatened or at risk. This study led to a reforestation task effort in which 200 seedlings were planted in the region and were created a conservation nursery. The greatest moment was to testify the involvement and the growing interest from all the Bairro da Serra community. We continue to pursue greater resources in order to implement all the activities planned for the project. Pray for it! A Rocha Brasil started its first steps nine years ago. Every year our gratitude expands to our loyal members, donors and partners, and above all the volunteers who with their energy and joy renew the hope of a new better day and more sustainable. Thank you all! We hope this report can generate an interest in joying us on this journey to serve the Lord and others in the creation care. Enjoy your reading! Robson S. Monteiro A Rocha Brasil President

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
REDE DE TRANSFORMAÇAO PROJECT (ReT): ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND SOCIAL MOBILIZATION NORTH AND NORTHEAST RET SMALL PROJECTS, GREAT REVOLUTIONS
COMPOST PROJECT – COMUNIDADE BATISTA NACIONAL KERIGMA IN SAO LUÍS/MA
Since 2009 A Rocha Brasil has made aware and mobilized leaders, pastors and missionaries in the North and Northeast of Brazil for local environmental initiatives. After six years, there is much to rejoice with the initiatives that have come up from the project. The project conducted in partnership with Tearfund was a pioneer in Brazil taking environmental issues to several churches and communities. For the first time, many pastors and community leaders heard about the environmental issue in the Bible. Many Barriers have been broken, seeds were released and many challenges faced. In 2014, by an Internal Notice released to the local partners of ReT, A Rocha Brasil can support three local initiatives described below:
Participants of the project and Agostinha (at the middle, wearing black blouse) showing the seeds to plant
SUSTAINABLE CRAFT PROJECT BAPTIST CHURCH IN IBIAPINA/CE
Pastors Agostinha and Cipriano lead the church and the Social Institute Kerigma. They have been local partners and organizers of the ReT since 2009. In 2014, they organized a composting project of organic waste and home gardens creation in the Bairro do Gapara. The actions and training workshops mobilized 25 people. Augustine tells the story of one of the participants:
Netinha with crafts made by her own and women of the course
Netinha is a missionary of the Convenção das Igrejas Unidas do Ceará (CIBUC), She is the local partner and at the same time, a coordinator of ReT since 2009. She was already an environmental adviser to the county office and her role in the community has been growing since she has joined the project.
"Pastor Luis was so motivated that during the process he used manure from the composting in his yard plants that the leaves were so pale. Soon, he realized that they got very green and produced healthy fruit. He also prepared a site and planted pineapple crowns that only grow in Turiaçu. A region of Maranhão far away from São Luís. The plant is growing, so we are waiting for the fruit. At the beginning of the project, there was a rickety palm tree with few branches, with the fertilizer it got much greener and with many branches, so we named "mascot". SUSTAINABLE PARK AND LIXO VIRA BICHO - JOCUM IN BELÉM/PA
In 2014, she created a craft initiative reusing disposable packaging (milk carton, plastic bottle). The products are very successful and Netinha has extended this learning to other thirteen women in the city. Here, she tells the story of one of them: "Dona Odete is 62 and lost her husband six months ago. One day she was sad and head down in the course. On the other day, she was excited about new ideas and models. Today, she makes and sells her products and wants I keep teaching and also is talking about starting an association. Today, Dona Odete is a cheerful person, interested, has accepted Jesus and is strong in the Church. She has already brought her daughter Cristina, who also attended the course and is in the Church. Both are already taking orders to make their product. "

The park ready
Lya Patricia is a missionary of the organization JOCUM (youth for a mission) and is a partner of ReT since 2009. Since the project has begun, Lya organizes the clean force of Lixo vira Bicho, which operates in the district where the mission headquarters is located in Ananindeua, and also the big events in Belém (such
as Cirio and March for Jesus). The case has attracted others to join them. In 2014 she led the construction of a sustainable park for JOCUM school children and here she shares a little about it: "We are in the process of making our children aware and showing that it is possible to obtain a children park from recyclable materials once we already know the great value and importance that there is in these materials. Parents are investing in this project so children can realize that we must have a commitment taking care and conserving our children’s park school. ". Workshops to Youth in Ananindeua/PA
TESTIMONIES
“A Rocha Brasil has been teaching me that my spirituality needs to be out from a deep relationship with God. After I started taking part in the organization I am much more involved in the political and social process of my city”.- Pastor Cipriano, Sao Luis /MA Pastor Cipriano and Pastor Agostinha
Partners meeting and Project enclosure, in Curitiba
“A Rocha Brasil taught me what means Missão Integral, we should take care of people trying to meet their basic food needs and teaching them to be independent. I hope they could see in me a great love for them and eventually recognize that this love comes from God, and they consequently accept that Jesus is the Creator and that we are stewards in the care of people and also relating to the environment” – Pastor Agostinha, St. Luis / MA

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION RET SÃO PAULO AND JOINVILLE (SC)
Since 2013, A Rocha Brasil has also been working in the Greater São Paulo (SP) and Joinville (SC), thanks to the partnership with the Missão Aliança, which supports Christian organizations that works with children. The main goal of the project is to empower the leadership of the partner organizations of Missão Aliança in order to put into practice Socio- environmental projects. In 2014, the project did seven local initiatives linked to the issues of solid waste, home gardens, urban agriculture and environmental education. One such initiative was the visit to the community garden and action of the Boy Scouts of Missão Morro do Meio Mission (Joinville, SC), and to the garden of the Social Assistance Reference Center - CRAS. TESTIMONY
Action in the garden of CRAS
‘The greatest result happened to me because I realized that there is no way to teach and mobilize people with only a speech. At some point, the discourse has to turn into action. You cannot talk about the world without showing the concrete world that is outside of the church or the classroom. The great themes of the Christian faith have to make a connection to the local reality and this was my great learning throughout the process. I already knew this in theory, but now I know by a personal experience. Thanks to Missão Aliança and A Rocha Brasil, to collaborate with my journey of faith and for the projects in which we are collaborators. "- Cidinei Cichoves - Missionary of the Ecos na Comunidade Project, Joinville / SC.

MOBILIZE AND CITIZENSHIP
IGREJA ECOCIDADÃS PROJECT
Meeting for who are interested in Igreja Ecocidadãs in Belém / PA
A NEW PROJECT FOR NATIONAL WIDE CHALLENGES
Since 2011, A Rocha Brasil has been encouraging Christians and churches to act as citizens in environmental issues of their city and country. The initial goal was to raise awareness about the issues and debates of the United Nations Conference (Rio + 20), held in 2012 in Rio de Janeiro. After the conference, many people joined the movement in order to involve their churches in environmental issues.
Meeting for who are interested in Igreja Ecocidadãs in Teresina / PI
Citizens from São Paulo (SP), Campinas (SP), Belo Horizonte (MG), Florianópolis (SC), Conceição do Tocantins (TO) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ) organized and gathered to think and discuss about actions for cities. In 2014, The Rock organized meetings at Igrejas Ecocidadãs in seven different cities and states, aiming to bring people together, create a local group and increase synergy among who were interested. A new project for Igrejas Ecocidadãs was designed to help churches get involved with local environmental actions. A Rocha is looking for new supporters for the project.

CONSERVATION AND COMMUNITY
BETARI PROJECT CONSERVATION AND TRANSFORMATION COMING FROM THE COMMUNITY
Since 2012 A Rocha Brasil operates in Bairro da Serra, Iporanga / SP, located surrounding the Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto Ribeira (PETAR). A Rocha was introduced to the community through the Agua Branca Baptist Church (IBAB), which has been working with the community for over 10 years. The Mata Atlantica forest is one of the richest biomes on the planet, but also one of the most threatened. The project takes place in a beautiful area very close to the park. Many residents depend on tourism economically, working as guides or managing hotels in their own homes. Even these, there are not many job opportunities and income, so in addition to conservation, the project also aims to contribute to improving the income of families in the district.
Bairro da Serra view
With the IBAB support since 2014, the ARB has been conducting training activities to implement a nursery of native seedlings in the community. At the end of the year, we planted 200 seedlings in a degraded riparian area, symbolizing the beginning of the Betari River restoration that will generate direct benefits for the whole community. The experimental nursery of UNESP Registro/SP donated the seedlings to the project. The whole project includes training in tourism and entrepreneurship (in partnership with SEBRAE Registro/ SP), the water quality monitoring of the Rio Betari, restoration of riparian forest, conservation Juçara Palm tree (Euterpe edulis Mart.) and associated fauna, environmental education for children and young people.
