MOCA | MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
Born and raised in Tehran until he was thirteen, Aroutin was a venturous, extroverted young boy who spent most of his days building shelters from dirt, pillows, and logos. As a child he was unusually aware of himself and his surroundings, this made him different. But he never let these experiences affect him. He read poetry, sang, acted, painted, danced, even made cloths, and was part of scouts for eight years. He defines these years as the toughest, most challenging, but most fruitful years of his pre adolescents. He was also very athletic and competed nationally in basketball and swim. His family moved to the states when he was only fourteen, placing him in tenth grade. He quickly realized the importance of learning English to better fit in. He exceled in school, taking A.P. English and math. coursed th e following year. Graduating with an honors degree, top of his class and having completed college courses he had learned that he could achieve anything as long as he did what others thought as impossible. Despite his passion for architecture he completed pre-med just to show his parents he was capable but no interested. He returned home to LA and enrolled in PCC architecture program. After completion he was accepted to USC pursuing B.A. of Architecture. Today he is an aspiring mental health advocate, holding meditation, bhakti, and kundalini yoga to give back and serve his community. Taking special interest in residential architecture, both public and private, he strives to incorporate his wisdom in spirituality and ancient knowledge into architecture. He believes beginning from the home, human awareness can be conditioned to its ancient origins, leading to awakening and Enlightenment. He looks forward to holding the 2019 TEDxUSC where he will introduce his thesis and share his journey with the world.
CALA | THE CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURE LOS-ANGELES
Aroutin Alexandry | Academic work | Ting Studio| 3rd year Spring 2017 N
This project took a conservative approach in recognizing the value of saving nature in a centrally located hill in downtown Los Angeles. For this, the museum of architecture takkes the form of a donut, while leaving the landscapes at the voids untouched. As a result of landscape and architecture co-existing together, I began to run sstudies of how the presence of one could influence the other. I concluded that without the awarness of the user this coexsitence would render no influence if it didnt present itself at given opportunities. So, I designed spaces on the circulation path that raise awarness and influence the conciousness of the users and inhabitants.

MATERIALS & SCULPTURES
Aroutin Alexandry | Academic work | Nulman Studio| 2nd year Spring 2016 The Barbara Hepworth sculpture piece begin with a serice of studies of material via a mold and cast system. Later to create a cardboard egg crate of the sculpture which is later followed by soldering a wire frame around the crate. After soaking and removing the egg crate the wireframe of the statue was studdied for applying a cladding to the skin of the frame. G.I. Joe toy soilders were then painted, heated and pressed onto the wireframe to create a unique manifestation of the work of Barbara Hepworth.

PHONE-BOOTH
Aroutin Alexandry | Academic work | Nulman Studio| 3rd year Fall 2016 Assigned to create an enclosed private space for taking phone calls, the group was committed to creating a zen space to get away from the daily busy life and relax. The hexagonal shape places the users in an uncommon interior space which is cladded in reflective mirror sheets and twinkle lights. The assebmled unit was then sound proofed and placed in the school plaza. The booth was then used during the Spring Fest at USC and later entered for Coachella but due to lack of fire proofing, it was turned away from being exhibited during th emusic festival. plan

ROUND-ABOUT HOUSE
Aroutin Alexandry | Academic work | Lynn Studio| 2nd year Fall 2015 THE ROUND-ABOUT HOUSE IS A LIVE IN STUDIO WITH ABILITY TO FULLY TRANSFORM BETWEEN A RESIDENCE & STUDIO. WITH PUBLIC FUNCTIONS AT ITS CORE, PRIVATE ONES AT ITS WINGS, & HIDDEN FURNITURE IN MOVING WALLS, IT ALLOWS FOR VARIATION OF ARRANGABLE SPACES. THE FORM IS INSPIRED BY ANALYSIS AND TRANSFORMATION OF SHED TYPOLOGY FOUND IN LA, & DUE TO ITS LOCATION ON A ROUND ABOUT GAVE RISE TO A MULTI FACATED FORM ROTATING CONTINIOUSLY WITH CIRCULATION OF CARS ON IT PERIPHERY.

QUARTIERE DELLA-VALLI
Aroutin Alexandry | Academic work | Touraine Studio| 4th year Spring 2018 STUDY-ABROAD The promenade is located at the center of a residential core just outside of Rome. The team worked together to resolve issues of promenade’s ISOLATION with the neigborhood. By connecting the three sections into a continious promenade as well as integrating programs into the space, the team hopes to achieve a shared space where the residents gather and children play. By connecting a bike path to the larger city, we hope to attract more traffic for the shops surroundng this neigborhood. GREEN PYRAMID TOWER Through exploration of typological explorations, the tower and the courtyard typologies were merged as a hybrid into a unified signle design. Taken form from the triangular park in its periphery, the tower as well functions as a continious loop of green spaces as one circulates through the building. With a large ground floor shopping plaza and underground parking, this residentail tower includes seventy five units and many residential facilities. Organized around a centralized courtyard all units take advantage of cross ventilation and full sunset sunrise, making the tower very green and friendly.

MOCA | MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
Aroutin Alexandry | Academic work | Van Oyen Studio| 4th year Fall 2017 A collaborative project with USC+Art Center. Working collaboratively to solve the needs of the board of MOCA, making the public spaces more sociable and engaging. The director, Philip Vern had a vision to redesign the public plazas of the museum to create a more frindly experience. My focus of the project was on the glass pavilion which will now be the new facade of MOCA, functioning as the first point of contact with visitors and ticketing booth on the ground level and the lower level as the new bookstore of the museum. With this addition the old ticketing booth which created circulatin confusions was removed. The glass pavilion is equiped with a handicap elevator which no longer segregates the handicap from the rest.

INNOVATIVE KITCHEN-2 Hired as a private contractor through Ed-Lab Design, I pitched in the idea of renovating the image of PandaExpress in order to stay consistant with the era and the market, that is more appealing interiors to go with the healthier meal options of the re-branded Panda-Express. Andrew Cherng, the owner of the company found this idea appealing as he had grown up in the US and inherited the company. Thus we designed two new locations in LA, and renovated interiors of three stores in NY. The Design incorporates earthy tones, modern finishes, open interior, and incorporates nature into the store as a symbol of Chinese heritage.
